Burrow had several other games where he threw for more yards per attempt than Costello had Saturday

This was KJ Costelleaux’s first game as starter for State and it was against the supposed “DBU”

I’m sure he’ll have better games going forward vs lessor comp.

I agree and if he continues to throw the ball for 60 times a game he'll destroy all of Burrow's records.

You played State. At home. Who has a new coach. With a team far less talented than LSU. You lost.

I mean Anthony Gordon at WSU actually had better numbers than Burrow last year despite playing two less games so it isnt out of the realm of possibility.

Yeah, but no one took those stats seriously because of WSU's competition.

I wasn't a Leach doubter - his numbers as OC at KY show his system can work in the conference - but I didn't expect immediate results either.

I think he can have success but I dont think a team can be elite being one dimensional.

We're going to see.

While KJ Costello's numbers were insane in Week 1 - especially considering the talent LSU has on that side of the ball - it was against a Bo Pelini defense.

True, but LSU lost to an unranked State team. When's the last time Saban lost to an unranked team?

Why are you comparing Saban in his 13th season to O in his fourth?

Saban lost by two touchdowns to a ranked South Carolina team in his fourth year that ended up being pretty average.

Mississippi State was technically unranked but no one knows how good they really are yet.

This. I don’t think it’s fair to say “lost to an unranked team” just because the media wasn’t paying attention.

Leach's offense is going to have ups and downs. There were times it didn't look especially good last week. State had to punt the ball, what, three times in the first half?

But just because Leach almost exclusively throws the ball doesn't mean it's "one dimensional." It's the complete opposite of one dimensional. It's designed to take what the defense gives. One week will be like LSU where the defense allows for vertical shots and big plays. The next week will be dinks and dunks.

After Saban's first year, how many unranked teams has he lost to?

They were ranked at the time they played. When LSU lists all the ranked teams they beat last year, do they list the teams' rankings at the time of the game, or the rankings of where they finished?

There's nothing "technical" about it. They were unranked, in every poll (even without the Pac12 or B1G factored in).

I list where they finished, preseason rankings are worthless.

You're just arguing semantics at this point.

The graphic your fanbase loves to use comparing LSU, the U, and Nebraska for "greatest team ever" lists the rankings at the time the teams were beat.

I am not the entire LSU fanbase. Holding me to their standards is ignorant.

Both Saban and O lost to three unranked teams in their first three seasons.

Of course this is based on end of season rankings.
