I'm fine with the 8 game schedule. We can all keep our Power 5 matchup with schools in other conferences.

Whomever is giving you your information is biased.
Personally, I don't like state politics in education. I'd rather local school boards manage that. But his argument is that he is following the policies that his constituents want (again, I'd rather that at the most local level when it comes to education).

Unfortunately the movie division despite putting out crap is still making plenty.

ESPN is also in shite shape and has been doing layoffs. We tied ourselves to a sinking ship.

Why do you want 9…..barn can’t compete in 8 game schedule!

Well Disney did save that billion dollars in Fla by not investing further in a state that has a moron for a governor. That should help a little.

None of that that has anything to do w/ESPN not wanting to pay the SEC more money.
They were NEVER going to do it b/c they have no reason to. They have an ironclad contract and it's tough tits for the SEC thinking it could force more money out of them.
Also, I'll keep repeating it but it's actually NOT in ESPN's best interest to have the SEC move to 9 game conference schedule b/c that lowers the amount of game inventory they would have.
8 games means they get at least 3 OOC SEC games every year they can put on ESPN+, ESPNU, ESPN2, and SECN. If the conference goes to 9 they only have 2 per team.
Long story short there is ZERO benefit for ESPN to pay the SEC more money when 9 conference games would give them less product to air.

Not necessarily. Some have home and home
OOC's in addition to a neutral site game that may or may not be on ESPN.And if a FCS or G5 rent a win gets replaced by a SEC game it doesn't mean that game
can't be on the SECN,ESPN2 or ESPN+.
I don't get your reasoning.
ETA Another SEC matchup means more eyeballs watching (no matter what network) which translates to more ad revenue.

Random thought I had
Maybe instead of a 9th SEC game
The money making move to pitch to ESPN would be stick with 8 SEC games
Expand the Conference Championship Game into a 4 team SEC playoff
1vs4
2vs3
Winner vs Winner for the Championship
ESPN then gets 2 top 20 matchups after the season one weekend followed by a top 15 Championship matchup the week after
3 games vs 1 all of which have massive playoff implications
This will still give more weight to our SOS while also giving our teams a chance to showcase themselves for at large bids against the best caliber of opponents
Also with a playoff SEC Championship format we can reward top seeds with a bonus home game for the Semis or you can have a rotational neutral site format like the bowl games between New Orleans, Atlanta, Nashville, and Austin or wherever

I thought liberals wanted to stick it to elites?
And the future of the parks in not in California or Florida. The future will be Hawaii, Japan, etc. /destination parks for non Americans. And more layered tourism options. There are 5 resorts owned and operated by Disney outside of Florida and California plus the cruise ships.

I don't get your reasoning.
I'm not saying ESPN can't air those SEC games. I'm saying if you add an extra conference game that brings the overall inventory of games ESPN has available to air down.
99% of the time at least 3 of the 4 OOC games SEC teams have are going to be a home game every single year. In a 16 team conference that's a guaranteed 48 games ESPN would have the rights to air on their networks.
If you change it to 9 conference games that number is reduced to 32. You don't get those game back by playing conference games b/c now you are playing each other.
Going to 9 would require that the ad revenue for more conference games will have to make up for the lost inventory PLUS the amount they are going to have to pay to make up for 8 schools losing a home game every year.
The fact that SEC leadership failed to put in any language that would cause ESPN to owe more money if teams like Texas and OU were added and went to 9 conference games plus the fact that they'd lose inventory leads me to believe the conference will stick w/8 for the time being. ESPN has no reason to pay more when they don't have to, they need the extra inventory to have a reason to force people into ESPN+, and there are a lot of schools that are not willing to lose the income from the extra guaranteed home game.

The SEC is not going to get more money. ESPN is owned by Disney and Disney is not in a good financial situation.
