They do this every time the SEC loses a few bowl games. If it was the other way around, nobody would care. The reality is the SEC has 5 teams in the playoffs, which means SEC teams are often playing opponents that are ranked much higher within their own conferences. Missouri finished 8th in the SEC. Meanwhile Virginia finished 2nd in the ACC. LSU finished 10th in the SEC, they played the 4th best Big12 team. Tennessee 9th best in the SEC, about the same for Illinois. And they were close games even after the opt outs. And that's been the 3 bowl games thus far that the SEC has lost. the 8th, 9th and 10th best SEC teams have lost. But I mean it's pretty shitty that players aren't finishing the year out. I'd like to see it change, it use to be important just from a development point of view and now they are like nah, I don't want to get better, I'll just spend my cash.

Missouri was ranked for 8 weeks. They didn’t beat a team over .500 all year

Tennessee was ranked the entire season, other than might East Tennessee State University, they didn’t beat a team over .500 all year either

These teams were used as cannon fodder to prop up other teams (Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, A&M).

The game has charged. It isn’t 10-15
years ago. The SEC isn’t some gauntlet that you think it is. It’s got some good teams (arguably none to Ohio State’s level) and a ton of overrated, mediocre teams.

It’s a cycle of course. Losing begets losing which means fewer fans and worse facilities. Cheating begets winning and more of those. You guys better enjoy the rest of Kirby’s career because when he leaves along with your major advantage being gone you’ll be back to normal. And don’t worry our bagmen were definitely few and far between but the fear of the NCAA is gone. Give it time and the landscape of the sport will change. Who would have ever thought that Indiana would be a power just 3 years ago.

They should just change it to AAA Football.
that would require performance and skill.

What we have now is a watered down version, closer to the UA all American HS showcase than a sport. Bunch of babies playing and coaching for schools they don’t give two shits about.

All this money will dry up in a few years. Maybe then we can get our college football back.

You know what matters to recruits? Money. The SEC gets the most viewers, the most draft picks, and the best NIL deals from schools not named Michigan, Ohio St, or Oregon

My personal opinion is the actual real look at the upper crust of the SEC starts today with Vandy and Texas. If they slaw, we are probably a middling group.

LSU losing its baby bowl game to a city college didn’t help things much.

This isn't the SEC anymore, it is the SEC, Big 12, South West conglomerate.

Expansion has weakened us to the level of the rest of the conferences.
