The odds were slim, but could America truly have taken even the slightest chance?

I don’t think the joke went over anyone’s head

It was just a terrible joke

OP's joke was still better than the tired take of "Alabama fans gonna kill those trees."

The tournament was cancelled for fear of bad optics/ PR and maybe more importantly plaintiff lawyers.

You’ve probably stood in line to get a picture with Updyke on gameday, too.

The fact is, when it comes to killing things in relation to athletic outcomes, A1abana fans lead the pack.

There’s not enough toilet paper available anywhere in the country to do this anymore

There are archived stories on the internet proving that Auburn fans were already killing the trees through years of pressure washing after the trees being TPed. They were stories in the local Auburn press in fact. Auburn University officials had admitted this in local reports. Then that yahoo comes along and gives Auburn an out. Now no one in media ever mentions that the trees were already dying. Thanks Updyke. What a putz.

Well I guess there was a 1 in 64 chance!

Honestly though, I don't think we would have made it to the Sweet 16. We looked pretty bad at some points this year, and while I defense bailed us out a few times, we were not consistent. It probably would have all depended on our draw. We were probably spared a 13 seed upset.

Still better odds than ours!

You guys have built a consistent program over there. I'm hoping we can do the same.
