Having 15-20th ranked recruiting class and a bunch of transfers is not going to have you regularly in the playoff imo. Especially in the SEC.
There has not been once single CFP game played under the new format.

We don't know shite.

Do you think that transfers won’t want to go to Florida?

They haven't shown the NIL money to get them up to this point. That is the whole point. They haven't done it yet. This is a new era.

And how is ole miss not gonna match 11 is the big issue imo

I think Ole Miss will have to do more than match if Kiffin is interested in the UF job.

The reality is UF has significantly more blue chip talent and has the ability to get more on a yearly basis than Ole Miss has. Ole Miss even with their transfer portal work only has 30 blue chips (4+ star recruits). UF has 50. That's a HUGE difference.

If Lane is interested in UF, that means he's looking to move to a school with enough blue chip talent to win national titles (Ole Miss doesn't have that... they're on the wrong side of the 50% blue chip ratio). So they'll have to pay MORE to keep Kiffin than UF, not just match the offer.

UF absolutely has the money to pay Lane. Heck, they paid Napier who in reality wasn't proven in any way as a coach 7 million a year. Can they go to 10 or 11 million? Absolutely. Will they? They might not. If so they'll have to roll the dice on an unproven guy though. Mark Stoops at UK makes 9 million. Brett Venables who's done nothing as a head coach is making more than 8 million.

7 million gets you either what UF got last time... a coach who had success at a Sunbelt program... or a coordinator from a bigger program (Dan Lanning got signed to 7 million a year going from DC at UGA to HC at Oregon).

Coaches who've failed at P5 type jobs get 6 million... that's what Bielma is getting from Illinois after failing at Arkansas. That's what you'd pay for a coach like Butch Jones or Will Muschamp to come to Florida today.

Florida was ranked 6th by 247 in the transfer portal this last year. 8th in terms of average transfer portal recruit ranking (which is ahead of Ole Miss last year... Ole miss did have more volume though).

Rumor being thrown around is up to 15MM or enough to make him the highest paid coach in college football. IMO, no coach is worth that much.
If so, it should be based on results after 3 years or the buyout is really low.

Maybe they spent that money on high school recruits instead, which is why they had the 10th ranked class in 2024 ahead of Ole Miss who had the 20th ranked class.

At Ole Miss Kiffin has what people keep calling “alignment.” President, AD, boosters, etc are all on the same page. Kiffen gets to call the shots for his program. He very well may go to Florida, where he would be near his Boca place, but he would have worse facilities, a dysfunctional administration, and an impatient fan base. His family kept him from moving to Auburn, and now that he has quit drinking, has custody of his children, who love Oxford, and is in a nice relationship, he might just enjoy staying in a great situation for $9 mil plus bonuses.

Yep..

If you want him, you better sell it to his kids..

The kids didn’t want him leaving Oxford.. so he maturely nixed Auburn.

Freshwater would have been at Auburn. Maybe he’s matured slightly

If UF hires a hot enough 24 year old AD he'll take the job for no salary.

Yeah.

Because there are no 20 something year old hotties in that pussy desert known as Oxford, MS.

Whoa!

Don’t inject logic into this conversation about “family” and believing in fairytales that Ole Miss is a better overall program than Florida.

He makes 10 million with incentives. OM will pay him whatever they have to. If he leaves, it won’t be because of money. Florida is not the job it once was. Things have changed and some of the old powers have yet to recognize it. It’s an NIL game and anyone can win with the right resources.

This whole argument on page 6 about what program is stronger/better fit for Kiffin etc etc is silly. It’s a rather obvious answer….

As a fan of any of the other 12 teams in this league, ask yourself what scares you more. Kiffin in Oxford or Kiffin in Gainesville? That’s the answer.

The real question is what Lane wants in life. Because the two jobs will have significantly different paths to a lifestyle.
