Kiffin has proven over the last 4 years he can sustain it. What more does he need to do to prove it to you?

We didn't load up in this class and go on one run. He has spent 3-4 years getting transfers that have multiple years of eligibility left. This isn't a flash in the pan. It is a unique but plausible way to build and sustain a roster in the transfer Portal era. People just see the failures (FSU) and expect everyone to fail. Kiffin has proven his method can and will work.

People on this message board are stupid on a historic level.

Also here’s this from Rece Davis.

quote:

"I'm going to say this that's going to throw some cold water on Florida and probably help Lane, as I said earlier, you can't ignore the obvious," Davis said this week on The College GameDay podcast. "You can't ignore the obvious and pretend they won't go after Lane Kiffin. As we stand here now, Lane Kiffin has a better job right now. He's at best, making a literal move. And it's not because Ole Miss is better than Florida right now. It's because they can get in on players now. They're aligned with their NIL. He makes the decisions. Lane has a better job."

Florida has been to 3 SEC championships since Urban. How many has Ole Miss been too...ever?

Please. You played in the East. How many of those 3 times did Florida beat Alabama? NONE. You were 0-3. We played them in the regular season and they pretty much kept us out of the game during one of the most historic and dominant runs of any in college football history. Had Ole Miss played in the East, we would have been multiple times (prior to UGA's current run)

The guy I was replying to said we hadn't done anything since Urban. I was just saying we have done something 3 times since Urban that you guys have never done.

You’re right. We haven’t been able to win the SEC East during that time frame.

It seems like a lot of poster want Kiffin to go to Florida just for the chaos. I personally do not want to see Florida with a competent head coach. Kiffin with those resources, in the state of Florida would be scary.

Does Kiffin have the same talent on his roster that's on Kirby's roster?

Sark's roster?

Day's roster?

Deboer's roster?

short answer... no.

long answer... no. those teams are built on NUMEROUS 5* recruits that came out of high school. you can't get the same talent in the portal that you can get from high school. you just can't.

how many former 5*s are in the portal? how many did Kiffin get? that's not a dig at Kiffin. that's just reality. the portal is a bunch of former low 4*s or less that didn't make the cut at their former stop. there will be a few gems in the portal, but not all of them are lining up to go to Ole Miss or Florida for that matter.

doesn’t Misssissppi only offer public employees 4 year contracts?

Kinda hard to get 90 mill guaranteed in a 4 year contract.

There is a loophole that allows for 6 year extensions.

Cool. Are you saying our program is now comparable to Bama and UGA?

It’s a good thing the contract is going through a non-state entity then.

you're trolling right?

Alabama: (17) 5*
Georgia: (14) 5*
OSU: (14) 5*
Texas: (11) 5*

Ole Miss: (2) 5*

Ole Miss isn't even in the same universe as those 4 schools.

They would also owe Ole Miss 4 Million as part of the buyout.

Let’s back this up a bit so you understand my point.

You’re comparing our recruiting to that of Bama, UGA, Texas, and OSU.

My point is that our program is not that of Bama, UGA, Texas, or OSU.

So we have to get creative with our rosters so that we can try and compete with Bama, UGA, Texas, and OSU.

So yes…..no shite we aren’t recruiting on their level. Neither is Florida.

? He went 5-5, then 10-3, then 8-5, then 11-2.

That’s not 100% my reasoning. I also look at successes. Teams that are consistently finishing as one of the top teams have top 5 recruiting classes, not top 10.

I think some of y’all think I’m saying Kiffin is a bad coach. I don’t think that at all. I think Florida is a better job when you consider the ability to have consistent long term success.

This is still a huge unknown in the current NIL/ Transfer Portal era of college football. Ole Miss has proven they can handle this environment and be way above its average of previous eras. People saying Florida will automatically be able to handle this new era and get to Spurrier/Meyer levels are guessing and assuming. It is still an unknown.

With 12 team playoff, there's really no need for him to leave Ole Miss, unless things just really go off the rails this year.

He's making great money and doesn't have to deal with the unreasonable expectations of a Florida.

that's the problem. you're not even doing that.

yeah, you're getting the top-rated recruits out of the portal, but those players don't even grade at the same level as the 5*/4* players those kids are getting out of HS.

how do you expect to be on the same level as Georiga and Bama when you're entire team doesn't have the same caliber players across the board? that's the whole point of the "Talent Composite". it takes into account your entire team.

but Florida does have a better "Talent Composition" than Ole Miss. the difference that you don't want to admit is that the reason Florida isn't winning, as compared to Ole Miss, is because of coaching. the talent to win is there. the coaching isn't.
