Again, refer to my post on page 3. It offers a system that preserves all rivalry games that teams want preserved. Also, it’s likely that any that drop off annually will be played 2 out of every 3 years.

Except, I don't think your system really works mathematically. As I crunch the numbers of how the matchups work in years 3 and 4, it starts to really fall apart.

Explain. I mean, no system with this many teams and an 8 or 9 game schedule will be perfect and symmetrical, but I don’t see how it falls apart.

I think the television people will be excited about more games with a built-in audience. If you get LSU versus Florida and Alabama every year plus two LSU games against Texas and two games against Oklahoma every six years

We will see.

Because those extra games with one team restrict that team's availability with other teams. Protecting additional rivalry games makes the pods somewhat uneven at 9 total conference games.

I'm just glad they aren't talking about home and home against your pod and then 1 game against a team from each other pod.

I still prefer East/West divisions.

There are only a couple where it applies AU/UGA, maybe LSU/Bama or LSU/UF and maybe UT/aTm. Only one of those is a sacred cow at this point. Also, it would only be used 2/3 years, so it doesn’t restrict much.

somewhat uneven
Any system with more teams than games on schedule will be somewhat uneven, including the current system.

Which is why we should have stayed at 12 teams which was perfection.

6 conferences of 12 teams each with an 8 team playoff would have been perfect, but no.....

Honestly, a 10 team conference with 9 conference games is probably beat with a 12 game schedule, but that ship has sailed.

Agree 100%.

TV deals and NIL has changed college football.

I'm not a big fan of the direction it is going.

The problem is that you can't fit 10 lbs of crap into a 5lb sack. It's not possible to have a perfect pod system that protects all of the following rivalries:

Tennessee vs Alabama
Alabama vs Auburn
Auburn vs Georgia
Georgia vs Florida

There are options with rotating pods. Here's one:

Pod1: Arkansas gets LSU, Tennessee, Kentucky
Pod1: Texas gets A&M, Vanderbilt, Florida
Pod1: OU gets OM, Alabama, Georgia
Pod1: Missouri gets MSU, Auburn, USC

Pod2: LSU gets Arkansas, Alabama, Florida
Pod2: A&M gets Texas, Auburn, USC
Pod2: OM gets OU, Vanderbilt, Georgia
Pod2: MSU gets Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky

Pod3: Alabama gets OU, LSU, USC
Pod3: Auburn gets Missouri, A&M, Georgia
Pod3: Tennessee gets Arkansas, MSU, Florida
Pod3: Vanderbilt gets Texas, OM, Kentucky

Pod4: Georgia gets OU, A&M, Auburn
Pod4: Florida gets Texas, LSU, Tennessee
Pod4: USC gets Missouri, OM, Alabama
Pod4: Kentucky gets Arkansas, MSU, Vanderbilt

Not perfect but keeps almost every rivalry, keeps regional affiliations and balances schedule difficulty for the most part (eg Alabama gets Vanderbilt and USC to balance LSU and Oklahoma).

I know I'm pissing against the wind here...but
screw pods. Simply make the divisions geographically
true & keep your traditional games.
WEST
Mizzou, Arkansas, LSU, Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma,
Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
EAST
Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Florida.

For the love of God. Each team in the pods has a permanent team from another pod. They play that team each and every year. Meaning, even though Georgia and Auburn are in separate pods they will still play each other every year. The rivalry remains intact because THEY PLAY EACH OTHER EVERY YEAR. EVERY YEAR!

It may come down to north and south - not east and west.

Do y’all realize that a 15 year old Tennessee fan has never seen their team beat BAMA. Let that sink in.

Neither has a 14 year old UGA fan, or a 13 year old UF fan, or a 14 year old State fan, etc....

Bama doesn't just beat UT. They beat everyone. We are just fortunate enough to play every year.

Link?

I haven't seen anything released on how scheduling will be done and whether or not there will be permanent cross pod opponents.

After reading, this one may be the format.

9 conference games.

Play each team in your pod plus 2 teams from the other pods.

No permanent cross pod opponents. Will provide a home and home for each team in the SEC within a 4 year span.

Call me old school but I do as well. Go to 9 conference games, keep West East, reshuffle them once Texas/OU join:

West
UTexas
OU
LSU
A&M
Ark
OM
MSU
Mizzou

East
Bama
AU
UGA
UF
UTenn
UK
USC
Vandy

Regionally aligns perfect, the balance of power is about as good as you can get. Play 7 teams from your division rotate 2 from other division. Barely any rivalries get killed with this. You can even do 1 permanent opponent from other division to preserve almost all rivalries and rotate the other, but I think more people would rather see variety of teams at that point. No weird methods of figuring out who goes to SECCG with pod system either.
