Actually this whole thread is about CWS appearances. Not wins, appearances.

We are on page 2 and headed for more.

So obviously people do care.

Generally this is correct but Arkansas a few years ago is like that Tin Cup dude taking so many strokes. Once seen, not easily forgotten.

(insert Arkansas gif here)

You think that'd hold up if they had 38 appearances

That is like Tater numbers but Cocks still have 2 CWS and Taters have none.

Just stop, you’re an idiot. Be one thing if we had spans where we were not competitive, but that is not the case. Texas baseball is a model of consistency, we’ve never been down. We’re on our fifth coach EVER, what does that tell you? Anybody can find some arbitrary way to make a statement to make themselves feel better. Take that to a football take, not baseball. Moron.

It doesn't, he's just obsessed with Texas and finds any weird thing he can to "get" us.

He needs to go back to the ACC board where he belongs.

This lsu guy's obsession with us is pathetic. We have no rivalry with lsu. One can only assume they're still damaged from getting a little warm in Austin a few years ago LOL.

Who cares about the past! Now that Texas is joining the SEC let’s have this discussion in 10 years and see how many appearances they have then. That will be a better metric now that we are both playing in the same league

LSU is among the best, but nobody, zero people, think LSU is better than Texas in baseball
I do. All-time, because of Texas' many CWS trips, sure. But in the last 50 years, it's LSU hands down.

And in the last year, I think Ole Miss is the best.

Since we are apparently using Aggie logic, I’ll present my case.

Since 1999 when Super Regionals started..

LSU
16 SR appearances
8-3 at home *
0-4 on road

8 CWS appearances (15-14)
2 Championships 2000, 2009
1 2nd Place 2017
0 3rd Place
2 5th Place
3 7th Place
(average 1.88 W - 1.75 L)

TEXAS
13 SR appearances
8-1 at home
3-0 on road *

11 CWS appearances (24-18)
2 Championships 2002, 2005
2 2nd Place 2004, 2009
3 3rd Place 2003, 2014, 2021
0 5th Place
4 7th Place
(average 2.18 W - 1.63 L)

*pending 2023

Conclusion
Texas was better from 1950-1990
LSU was better from 1991-1998
Texas and LSU are pretty even from 1999-present, but Texas has been slightly better

I definitely respect LSU baseball and I consider them to be equals with Texas despite LSU only being relevant since 1986. They have been that good since then.

Lolll Texas has CWS 2 titles in the last 40 years but keep hanging onto the success you’ve never seen.

I’m sure y’all’s parents/grandparents have some great stories though

several of your titles are bordering on 30 years old.

when youre finishing top 3 at 30ish% of tournaments and finishing top 8 50% of the time youre pretty damn good.

Texas absolutely has the advantage over LSU and its really not close.

Conclusion

Utx was good in the pre ESPN era, but back then so was the B1G and nobody talks about B1G in a generation or two. There has been a swing in the ESPN era as the ACC and SEC have come to dominate as conferences while Utx has been a big fish in the B12.

The issue is not who is better now but who will be better once Utx gets in the meat grinder of the SEC similar to Free Shoes U under Bowden carried 1 or 2 losses less than in the SEC and that narrow margin meant playing for Natty's.

We will not really know till a decade or two from now and we have head to head results to have a more valid picture. Nobody doubts Utx has advantages over most baseball schools that should insure success but this is not true till the games are played.

Kentucky going to Box this week has lottery ticket odds but they could come home with the trip to Omaha. It is why we play the games. I think what is being said, and the Utx fans on here are ignoring or sidestepping (SEC folks are used to this dealing with BuckNuts fans) is that the playing field has changed (using ESPN starting up in the late 70's).

CWS pre ESPN (1947 - 1979) || Dominated by B1G and PAC
(3) = Utx 49', 50', and 75'
(1) ACC = WF 55'
(0) SEC

CWS with ESPN (1979 - 2023) || ZERO B1G while ACC and SEC in force
(14) SE = UGA 90' + LSU 91', 93', 96', 97', 00', 09' + SC 10', 11' + VU 14', 19' + UF 17' + State 21' + Rebs 22'
(5) ACC = "U" 82', 85', 99', 01 + UVA 15'
(3) Utx = 83', 02', 05

The issue is not with Utx (the school) but their fans who have a sense of arrogance and entitlement matched only by BuckNuts fans. Hogs were excited to be here and they are plucky so get respect. Cocks had lots of history with the Charter schools so they meshed well from the start. TAMU had lots of scheduling history across many sports so they get grief but are familiar. Mizzou is trying to fit in but not walking in on day one like they own the place.

SEC is unlike any other conference in that they had to be really united to take on the disrespect from outside. It is in their DNA and this is not Utx's historic way.

Whats funny if you look over the last 30-40 years, most of the Texas regionals and Super regionals have gone thru SEC teams

In the SEC, i actually think their road gets easier to make the CWS as they will face less SEC teams in the regionals

Having TexaSS and OU in SEC Baseball is going to be great, IMO. It makes the best college baseball league even better.
