As much as I hate them NOTRE dame by your criteria. Consistently finishing in the top 10, played for a NC and in the playoffs another time. The only teams there more are Bama, Clemson, OSU, and OU.

Blood status does not change, so one cannot just move into East Egg with the accumulation of money. Although, it isn't a big loss; West Egg probably has more fun.

Thank you for the 1970 - 2019, post integration link I appreciate it. I can’t believe Boise St is at #2. I was surprised Auburn was above LSU as well.

In more what?

NC's?

LSU, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Clemson tower over ND's one NC appearance and one CFP appearance.

Yeah, Clemson is set up for success for the foreseeable future as the have no completion in the ACC. Will be in the playoff yearly. Dabo has that machine rolling

Have you not seen what Mack brown is building at UNC? They’re gonna be the real deal in a few years. He already took them from 2-9 to 7-6 with a bow win in 1 season. Mack is great.

The schools that are actually talked about across all corners of this great country are as follows: first and foremost Alabama. Ohio State. Oklahoma. USC. Notre Dame. LSU. Texas. Michigan. Florida. Florida St. Oregon. Georgia is right there. Clemson is new blud. The U gets mention but it is nearly faded. All are national brands.

The only people who will argue these facts are country hicks who have never left the south for more than 10 days aside from of their $500 Carnival Cruise vacations to shithole Jamaica that they spend their life savings on.

Teams can certainly lose their status.
Nebraska is on the verge and a case could
have made for Tennessee 20 years ago but not close today.

I just watched the 1973 Sugar Bowl. The whole telecast they described this game as the National Championship Game which I remembered as being as a 11 year old at the game. Notre Dame won and was undisputed, except that the UPI didn’t do post season polls.
What a crock that Alabama claims a NC AFTER getting beat.
Both of these are “Blue Bloods,” but Bama is shady as shite. When they started being prohibited from having swimming and golf scholarship football players, they figured out other ways. Second most penalized program ever. The blue in their blood is certainly tainted.

A which teams are which characters in The Great Gatsby thread is something in which I’d definitely partake

We could start in 1776 and LSU would still rank higher than UGA

Alright dawg. let's start at 1980.

How are you still more relevant than 1990?

You still share the same number of NC's as Tech.

Y'all talk a lot of shite for a team with a coach that's never beaten Saban or Orgeron. You know... The two premier programs in the SEC.

Why not 1970? That's a better gauge for port integration.

How bout 1960 to 2000 if we're just pulling numbers out our arse.

I believe it was described as the game for the MacArthur Trophy, which is the national championship trophy awarded by the NFF.

Other than Alabama, Clemson has been in more playoffs than any team and like Alabama has won twice. LSU has been only once so obviously Clemson has been a better program in the last 5 years than LSU

True, but in terms of the past couple decades, Clemson is more along the lines of USC. Extremely dominant in a small period, combined with moments here and there. They just happen to be in their dominant period right now, while USC was about 15 years ago.

So, you have top tier:
Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma

Next tier:
Clemson, USC, Florida

Next tier:
Auburn, Oregon, Wisconsin, Florida State, ... Georgia?
Do you leave Auburn and Florida state in with Oregon, Georgia and Wisconsin? One group has actually won hardware, the other group has more consistently "been up there" every year.

And would you leave Wisconsin in this group, since they've never played for a title, simply because they've been ranked high every season? I do think UGA and Wisky have been about equal, despite UGA's playoff spot.

Depending on how far back you go, you also HAVE to put Miami and Nebraska in. They're out now, but for those who say start in 1980, that pushes them WAY up the list.

And then there's Tennessee and Penn State, somewhere.

Remove usc and add Georgia. It’s 2020. Not 2005

“Blue Bloods” is a racist statement and must be eliminated.

Nope, you'd have to pick a different metaphor, as blood status does not change. If a royal owns and empire or become debt-ridden and destitute, he is still royal.

There is no such thing as a "new" blue blood in an established hierarchy. There is new money and old money.
