I wish race was never an issue. I wish people who don’t like displays of poor sportsmanship would not themselves turn around and display poor sportsmanship. I wish fans of sports teams that win championships would not gloat to fans of other teams. I wish fans of the other teams would not pretend they are not jealous of the championship winner. I wish women’s sports was appreciated more and not denigrated because it is actually women who are playing it. But I am a realist, and as my dad was fond of saying when I was a wee lad, shite in one hand and wish in the other and see which hand fills up first.

Me not condoning it doesn’t mean I can’t weigh it in the heat of the moment and give balance to it. The overreaction to it is absurd, and especially in light of the fact that Caitlyn has gotten NONE of the same for her actions, it’s understandable how someone could see this as racial bias. It is.

Yeah when losing an argument throw in the race card. I mean it's not like people in Louisiana would hold guns on a bridge preventing one race from crossing over after hurricane Katrina. Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones

Clark had a subpar game but still ended up with 30 points

When you attempt 19 three pointers and only make eight of them you can't help but get a high point total. She had just one two point goal with six turnovers. She lives and dies by the three pointer. In all honesty, that is what you call a one trick pony.

Hey, when it sticks it sticks and this one most certainly does. That’s not everyone to be sure, but for some yeah, it’s definitely at play when it comes to the different outrage over Angel doing it and the absolute silence when Caitlyn has done it on numerous occasions. You don’t think people can see through that?

That’s some top notch virtue signaling there

That might be the liberal guilt version of the I have a dream speech

I've watched her play three times now. And that is very far from accurate. She did not have much success driving the lane tonight, but her wheels blew by Beal, and any other USCe defender at will. She does a great job shooting over smaller defenders and blowing past taller defenders.

Plus her statistics show she is no one trick pony. And her passing ability is just as good as her shooting ability....As for the turnovers, she does too much and the coaches expect too much from her. Turnovers will probably stay elevated.

I mean, it WAS racially motivated. LSU and South Carolina’s players haven’t been hiding the ball here. The entire Final Four turned into a “how hood can we act in the face of these white showboats”.

For the "Caitlin did the same thing" crowd

A video of something very much different just in case you only saw a picture.

the real reason for the crazy outrage over Angel Reese’s hand gesture at the end of the game is...

...because few people really understand the context.

Everyone knew when Clark broke the scoring and assists records.

No one knew when Reese broke the season record for double-doubles.

In all the lead-up to the game, the talk was all about Iowa and Clark, and almost no talk about Reese potentially setting the double-double record. I have a theory on why - Kim Mulkey. She's a lightning rod for controversy, and no one seems to want to give her good press. For all I know, this is intentional in order to motivate the players to bond together, fight from an underdog role, and play the disrespect card.

Maybe not.

But how in the holy frick can a coach come in after a 9-win season, and two years later win a championship? She's got to be getting in their heads some kind of way.

LSU - a team that was given a 5% preseason chance to win it all and a team with two losses that was a three seed in their bracket. I'd say that's a lack of respect and if the girls wanted to strut their stuff a little after the game,

It was a fantastic win.

Correct me if I’m wrong but she made it about race. In her press conference. No one else did.

If you talk trash during a game in any sport, be prepared to have it thrown back to you. Just my opinion. Let your play do the talking, guess I'm too old school.

Truth be told I don't see what Angel did as inherently bad, but pitiful in nature. She won THE game yet she was more concerned with getting Clark's attention so that her insecurities regarding Clark's greatness could feel some vindication. In other words, Angel has a whole lot of dick envy for Clark and she decided to let the world know this through imitation, the sincerest form of flattery.

Your post was really well done until this part. Angel took a total of five seconds, with a minute left in the game, to wave her hand in front of her face then point at her ring finger at a player who had been allegedly shite talking all game. Then was asked about it constantly in post game interviews when neither player would have likely thought about it again otherwise.
