Went through this after Troy. It’s not pleasant.

I like how their last football twitter update was when they kicked a FG to take the lead. No final or anything.

God yes. The Ray Goff era was so bad I stopped watching college football for the most part for several years. The depression was just too much

This is not glorious. Tennessee being terrible means 1 more guaranteed win on the schedule every year for LSU’s biggest competition in the division. Alabama is already extremely difficult to beat and they are basically starting with a 1 game advantage in conference play every year.
This is the most beta, bitch arse post I’ve seen in a while. Just man up and beat Alabama, how about that?

They should have hired Les Miles, given him a three year contract, and let him build the toughness back into the program. Then they could go get their permanent coach.
they should have hired Leach. He had agreed to go but Fulmer stabbed the previous AD in the back, had him fired, then reneged on the agreement.

I almost feel bad for Tennessee fans. It’s hard to ever see them put a run like the 90’s in today’s landscape. UGA, LSU and even at times Bama were poorly managed then. Not to mention other SEC programs with better potential and in state recruiting base. Still no reason for them to be this bad. It wasn’t a multiple TO type fluke either, Georgia State was clearly better. Just sad.

frick You. ETA, frick you very much you hypocritical a-hole. LSU beat Bama in 2011 and was forced to try what has become the norm now.
As it stands now, Alabama has to lose twice to not be in the Playoff, so any SEC school would have to beat them twice to win a NC.
No East team gets in the playoff unless they win the SEC. No West team gets in without beating Alabama.
ONLY Alabama gets in not winning their Division or Conference.
I guess they’ve earned this since Saban politicked so hard in 2011, but it really would help everyone if Tennessee was worth a shite.

Being mixed up in the Penn State stuff is the excuse they used for sabotaging Schiano, but let’s be honest with ourselves. The fan base was disappointed after stupidly believing the Grumors. Somebody, in their angst and dissatisfaction, made a comment about Penn State and Schiano on social media and it went viral.
Tennessee is not the program it was, and it hasn’t been for a long time. Their fans have unrealistic expectations about the program and still believe big time coaches are chomping at the bit to come.
They deserve everything they’re getting because of the Schiano situation. I don’t even think the dude is a great coach, but they’d be better today if they’d stuck with him.

Mixed up with the Penn State-Joe Paterno- Jerry somebody mess. There is some evidence he was one of the assistant coaches that knew about something going on and did nothing.
There was no evidence. There was testimony that a guy heard from another guy that allegedly heard Schiano made a remark about Sandusky’s misdoings. Both Schiano and the guy he was allegedly talking to denied this conversation ever happened.
An extended Federal investigation and subsequent NCAA investigation found nothing on Schiano. His name wasn’t even in the 600 page report.

That is what half the state of TN protested.
Half the state of Tennessee had zero clue Schiano was ever a coach at Penn State. There was no uproar until Clay Travis (who constantly rails against twitter mobs and preaches due process) used his employment at PSU as a soap box to cause a stir because he didn’t like the hire - if Schiano had a shinier resume, there wouldn’t have been any problem with his hiring.
The faux Schiano outrage coupled with Phil Fulmer’s meddling brought this on the Vols. They deserve every bit of this. Here’s to hoping Pruitt stays long enough to further bury what’s left of Tennessee football.

I don't. I grew up in the 90s so my earliest memories of football involved getting our brains beat in by UF and UT every year. The smug fatty fulmer would raid ATL for talent and beat us 9 years in a row. Even when they fell from nationally elite status they were still a thorn in our side and beat us when we were better (04, 07). It's very satisfying to see them on the verge of irrelevance for a long time. Even 5 years ago you could definitively with no question say UT was the 2nd best SEC program historically. That still might be the case but it's getting less and less clear with each passing year. The SEC pecking order for decades has been bama / solid gap / UT / small gap / UGA/UF/AU/LSU all lumped in together in that next tier. Within the next 5-10 years it's very possible UT is not just solidly in that big lumped tier but maybe even at the bottom of it.
