I never thought they could fall farther than where Butch Jones took them. But somehow, they found a way.

Seek out This Week in Schadenfreude. It's usually released on Mondays. Thank me later.

This is not glorious. Tennessee being terrible means 1 more guaranteed win on the schedule every year for LSU’s biggest competition in the division.

Alabama is already extremely difficult to beat and they are basically starting with a 1 game advantage in conference play every year.

I just don’t understand how they have not improved over there. I guess when down that winning attitude is hard to implement but there is no excuse for an SEC team looking that bad their first game.

That reminded me of the night Troy beat us. I felt the same way they did.

They should have hired Les Miles, given him a three year contract, and let him build the toughness back into the program. Then they could go get their permanent coach.

Troy was at least a pretty good football team. Georgia State was 2-10 last year. Tennessee's loss was much worse.

Derek Dooley lead them to 3 consecutive losing seasons.

The list of programs that replaced legends and descended into hell is long:
Texas, Tennessee, USC, Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami.

Many predicted that with Orgeron and it hasn't happened. The talent level is there and there is a commitment to make needed changes backed by an AD who won't starve or smother the program.

Troy was a good team. Georgia State, ugh!

I bet all those SJW regret running off Greg Schiano. He would have been a better fit

I never got the melt there. Schiano was a good college coach at Rutgers

It will take Ole Miss level cheating for Tennessee to ever be a national contender again.

They do not have the home state recruiting base other SEC schools have and no longer have the national name appeal to attract recruits from around the country like they used to be able to do.

Glad somebody gets it.

We NEED a strong UT-k to rebalance the SEC power.

Maybe, but Tennessee was also a 5-7 team last year with no expectations this season. When LSU lost to Troy they were a much better and more well regarded program too. I'd say they're very comparable honestly.

This, right here, really puts their pain and dejection into full perspective..

Never thought I'd see the day when I felt empathy towards Vol fans. But that day is nigh.

They're right though. Les wouldn't have lost that game. Probably would have been a nail biter like the KU game yesterday, but he'd have gotten the W.

Cuse fan who followed schano every year. He’s trash and rode ray rice to a couple good seasons right after the big east was raided for best programs and there was no competition. He somehow parlayed a high water mark of the Texas bowl into an nfl gig. He’s better than most at Rutgers but he’s done zero to show anyone should be cobfident in him. I’d rather have butch.
