I’d rather see LSU win the SECCG than the playoffs. One is important to the conference and the other is midweek games against teams I don’t really care about.
In 2019, LSU fans enjoyed beating Bama and UGA more than beating OU and Clemson.

Kentucky has a chance to make the game for the first time.

Ole Miss would make it for the first time IF they win out and the right teams lose.

Could an Ole Miss-Kentucky game result in a stout secondary ticket market?

Not if Mizzou beat Kentucky later this year.

I disagree. Winning the SEC is still a big deal and you are forever the conference champions that year. Otherwise you have to win the NC in order to have something to show for it. UGA won the SEC, but lost to OM. UGA has a big-arse SEC trophy...what does OM have? Nothing. Nobody cares if you win a playoff game.

Football is like basketball now. The only thing that matters is how you did in the tournament. Would you rather have 2019 Tennessee's SEC champion banner or 2019 Auburn's Final Four banner? Anyone who watches college basketball would take the Final Four.

A bit of an extreme example here, but is 2018 Virginia remembered more for going 35-3 and steamrolling their way through the ACC tournament, or for getting their doors blown off by 16 seed UMBC in the first round?

Final 4 in football is meaningless. I'll take a conference championship. However, once they get rid of the SECCG the SEC Championship will lose a lot of prestige. Some team will only have to beat Vandy or Arky in their final regular season game to claim the title instead of having to play another elite team in an extra game.

Well I wouldn't say it has no upside. A conference championship is still very desirable.
at this point I really want LSU to run the table so they play in the SECCG just to spite all the idiots on the rant. What is it with internet message boards? Can’t imagine in real life running into a fellow lsu fan that says “I’d hate to win a conference title.”

We have only won the SEC once in the past 15 years. If we make the SECCG I’m going to rub it in tRant’s face all week. Not SECr full of trolls, the LSU one full of tards

Yep, it’s gonna be meaningless. You might also have a few teams bunched up at the top with no clear champ.

Yep. Didn't even think about that...Co-Champions suck, especially if the two teams didn't even play each other.

Would've been nice to see Florida vs Bama as the last SECCG.

It would be good book ends to the game. If we do play, I just hope the 1st one and the last one yield the same results!

As a SEC CG ticket buyer since 1994 I hope UGA is in it but whoever is in it I hope the ticket market is stout because its been shite 2 years running. Until 2 years ago I managed to nearly double my money if I didn't use them with the exception of 2002 when I had a friend cancel last minute and my wife and I used 4 to get the two of us in. I tried giving the 2 extras away that year but no one take them, I think they thought I was trying to rob them. I actually lost money on them 2 years ago (so much for Texans having money, they are broker than South Carolina and Missouri fans as far as I can tell) and made almost nothing on them last year. I doubt they will be worth much more than face value this year given than whoever is in it will be heading to a playoff game somewhere and they will be saving their money for that. If UK is in it my wife has a cousin who is a UK alum and her, her husband and their 2 adult sons are getting the 4 of them as a gift even if UGA is in the game...they don't know this yet so y'all don't tell them. To be honest I had about decided to quit buying them this year - came real close to making that call 2 years ago. Overall they have been a pretty decent "investment"....I have been to 10 of the 13 games UGA has been in and using the 4 tickets I have made a little money and attended 10 UGA games for "free"......there have been times when I could have made a LOT of money on them...and there have been some times I more than doubled the cost but over the 31 years I have bought them, not counting this year. I have probably made about 20% on them and went to 10 UGA My UGA season tickets have never paid for themselves but for the most part I used them or family / friends did for free....mostly the latter the last 10 years or so.

As bad as I "hate" both teams I thought this very thing when I heard it was finished. That said UGA and Alabama are the 2 winningest programs of the original SEC so it would also be nice if UGA and Alabama were in it again.....but worst case scenario is UGA vs anyone! That'd be my main "wish"....Hell even if it was UGA vs an allstar team from the rest of the conference combined...as long as UGA is in it.

There will always be some upside to winning the SEC however there is significant downside to playing in the SECCG in the playoff era. Playing another SEC team that is elite or damn near is always risky....

Not a lot of LSU fans care what is important to the conference, especially this year, but saying you would care about LSU games in the CFP.... that's crazy.

And for 2019, you're not the spokesperson for LSU fans. Yes, beating bama was great and beating UGA just kept you undefeated with an SEC Championship. But beating the OU and Clemson the icing on the cake for a perfect season.

It was not uncommon prior to the SEC CG...10 times and one of those had 3 co-champs. With 16 teams and a 9 game conference schedule I think mathematically there will be 2 or more co-champs at least as often as there were prior to 1992...with 16 teams it may even be 4 co champs.....eerybody gets a trophy!!!!

Hold up now. We came up a little short against Miami in the semifinal but the Rebels absolutely took home a trophy at the expense of the Dawgs.

Understood, and y'all definitely earned that. However, I would not give up the SEC Championship trophy for the Sugar Bowl trophy.

Imagine being in this conference for about 80 years and never playing for the sec championship game, just to sit and watch a team that was only in for 3 years play it two years in a row. Crazy.
