The argument is that it saves companies money. I personally like the quarterly reports.
This is really just part of the mission to dismantle the regulating agencies, which I’m against.

Epstein was arrested in 2019. There were no Epstein files in 2016.

I’m not sure the data backs you up here.
I’m going off of anecdotal experience with people I know in the states where I split time like Florida, Montana, Idaho, and NY. Almost every South Florida family I know with means is spending way more time in places like Maine or Colorado.

The original 1863 version was strong but had some weaknesses. It was significantly updated in 1986 (and again later) to make it even more effective. Today, the modern False Claims Act is one of the government’s most powerful tools against fraud in areas like:
Studied this in Compliance Law back in the day. One of the most egregious cases we looked at was the one with Columbia/HCA where Rick Scott stole billions. Still don’t know how he’s not in jail.
FCA, AKS, FCPA, were all fun cases to read.

What I said was people are now showing a preference for a mild summer over a mild winter. Part of this is the perception that winters are becoming less harsh while summer are getting hotter. People are migrating to traditionally colder places.

I found a Vero Beach vs Naples comparison. Obviously, there is more to the coasts than Vero and Naples, AND, the realtor doing the comparison is from Vero, so she is probably biased, but I think the video is spot on.
I thought the video was pretty accurate. I don’t get to Naples area often, but I always found it more desirable than most other places in Florida.
The whole calling Vero the Hamptons of Florida is quite the stretch IMO. I spend more time in Sag Harbor than other parts of the Hamptons but I don’t get the Vero comparison.

My dad and most other folks we know from the 'Scons with the means just become snowbirds, but will change their residency to someplace like Florida for tax benefits. He's gonna head north to WI from Fort Myers this week, and will spend most of the summer on the lake in Wisconsin's Northwoods.
The destination preferences for the people who can live anywhere has shifted IMO in the last decade. The pursuit of a mild summer has supplanted the desire for a mild winter to a certain extent. Most people I know who lived in South Florida have an exit plan or already spend less time there.
We still have a primary residence there, but spend considerably less time there.
Insurances, hurricanes, politics, and increased temps have made Florida less desirable. I know 20+ families who are spending more time in Montana, Idaho, Maine, and Colorado.

Have you been there lately? Vegas is literally one of the fastest growing cities in the country
The old Vegas of slot machines, cheap booze, and casino buffets has changed quite a bit.
It’s becoming the entertainment capitol of the world. Lots going on there. I’m more inclined to visit now than I was 10 years ago.

I think Roy's suggestion about getting a decent itinerary is a good one. For a place like NYC, while it's possible to get from one place to another pretty easily
It’s definitely a place where you want to have a plan. You can walk that city for half a day and see nothing. Plan out what, when, and where things are that you want to do. I also recommend not trying to go up and down the whole island. Narrow the roaming area down to certain areas. Biggest mistake is when people try and do it all in one trip.

Biking way better than scooter, but be careful with the traffic safety, and bikes are like the only thing that gets stolen down there.
My favorite day time bar on the weekends is the Tree Bar at Ricks. Joanne the bartender from Philly is hilarious. I go to Blue Heaven a lot during the day for daytime drinks at the outside bar and for dinner. Banana Cafe is my go to breakfast. I like Pepe’s for lunch and I usually hit the bait shop across the street for a few. Cliff Cody is my favorite local musician originally from Odessa he plays Hanks and Hogs Breath A lot. I also like Tony Baltimore who also plays hanks, green parrot, and schooner quote a bit. Happy hour for me is usually conch farm or Martins. Very different. You’ll meet way more people at Conch Farm but Martins has a good vibe.

The locals everywhere in Florida would rejoice. We had a beach house in Pensacola for years. Every January and February those fat milk legged b!tches would be everywhere on every beach.
The locals own businesses and are dependent upon that tourist dollar. They’re really not concerned about how long the line for crab legs is at the local seafood buffet.
That’s the difference between locals and people who visit. The Canadian boycott cost me several grand.

It’s sort of a big blow to the South Florida economy. They were a big part of snowbird season.

The Florida Keys are not the place for an inexperienced person to attempt to learn how to operate a rental sailboat. The bottoms there are sharp limestone, very unforgiving. A novice sailing there will find a way to make sailboat and some limestone come together in a bad way
Even with experience boating around there is tricky. It goes from deep water to shallow rocks quickly. Boats get destroyed there all the time. There’s plenty of captains that can take out groups as small 2-4. The water is the best part of KW, but a highly recommend renting a boat with a captain.

Yes. Buffett used to live next door and Louie's Backyard used to put his dinner over the fence for him while he was in his hammock. Buffett gives Louie's a shoutout in his Hurricane Season song.
I saw Jimmy in there about a month before he played those two concerts at the amphitheater at Truman Waterfront.
Louie’s is good, I always thought that afterdeck bar had so much potential but they underutilized it. Food and service wise I don’t think it would be a standout in other destinations. Its location is phenomenal.

How long ago was that? I recall the saints training in Wisconsin like 20+ years ago. All of Florida is way different than before H Andrew. I don’t know how much Vero has changed but it seems like it checks a bunch of boxes. I’d have no interest in living in Broward or Dade counties.
