No. He didn't.

Darren McFadden and Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis began his career with 8 consecutive victories.

Yes but I doubt with Robert Johnson as the QB, they would have won those games.

Arkansas should have fired Nutt after the 2003 season

But that does not make excuses for the Malzahn/Mustain/Springdale little league parents debacle

Considering the talent on that team and the best they could do is an independence bowl win then yes that wouldn't be a bad idea at that time.

A lot of that was overblown from the retard Arkansas media. Just as they always sucked up to Nutt and refused to hear criticism and made excuses for him.

In 2005, Mitch Mustain was the top high school quarterback in American; the first ever consensus Gatorade, Parade, and USA Today Player of the year. He began his college career with eight consecutive victories. Then, momentum stopped.

Go back and watch those games, he wasn't winning those games, Darren McFadden was along with the all star backfield we had. Mitch was doing just about everything he could to lose them and 8 games into the season he lost the team and got benched.

Go back and watch the games, he was freaking terrible.

He wasn't winning those games but Arkansas could have went with Robert Johnson and they certainly wouldn't win those games. Mustain was bad and so was Casey Dick. Robert Johnson was trash.

Who was responsible for the QB development for all three of them?

Little does he know: that cat is out of the bag, bigly.

Mustain didn't like Malzahn at all.

Irrespective of Mustain's feelings toward Malzahn, Nutt saw Mitch as Gus' boy.

Mitch was cruising, Offense was sharp. Nutt didn't like that Gus was getting credit. Nutt began to take offensive control from Malzahn.

Wanted Mitch benched, because he was a Gus disciple in the eyes of fans and the media.

All that shite came out immediately after Casey Dick was named the starter.

I wonder how I’d react to it all now if it happened 2021 after all the things that have happened since (here and elsewhere) that’s been blown up on the net? At the time, I found the whole thing totally embarrassing and I ended up disliking MM, GM and HDN all about the same.

Mitch had the smug quote in the book that was written about his high school team. Mitch evidently bitched about the shoes. Fans did flyovers about getting rid of Nutt. Fans used the FOIA to get HDN’s text messages. HDN was his normal dorky acting self and evidently used a friend to write some dumbass letter to MM. Malzahn used his high school players to get the gig and then rode off into the sunset still viewed as an angel from heaven above to many.

It was an ugly mess all around and while I’d been on the net since the mid 90s, it was the first real sports drama that I followed message boards.

The same thing happened to Auburn with Gus and Chiz. After the 2011 season Gus left Auburn and Chizik went 180 in the direction of the offense to prove Auburns success wasn’t due to Cam and Gus’ offense.

Mustain was struggling but the playcalling was much better with Malzahn. Mustain was seen as a tool for Malzahn. Nutt backed Casey Dick and once he recovered from back surgery then he had no intention of starting Mustain ever again.

And then Gus decided he needed to prove his system wasn’t predicated on a running QB.

So utterly strange.

The drama wouldn't have happened had Nutt been fired. It was a result of a coach that outlived his welcome here and most hog fans were ready to move on.

But Nutt had his superiors and the Arkansas media on his side.

A stroll down Amnesia Lane.

Didn't Nutt's phones records show he was texting a TV anchor Donna Bragg right before a bowl game kicked off?

To think Nutt was the one that outed Hugh Freeze and his phone records with the hooker and OleMiss canned his arse.

Yes Nutt texted her seconds before running on the field against Wisconsin.

Sounds kinda familiar, I know they texted anyway. I was thinking it was Petrino that was texting with someone around game time but that may not be right. But I think the fact that I can confuse two coaches with extra curricular texts that we found out about eventually points to the fact that hog football has been a soap opera for years now.

Any synopsis of what it is about?

Mitch Mustain getting used by everyone around him and crying about it.

He was part of the springdale AR class that Gus used to get the AR OC job.
