People forget that Lane Kiffin took over right as USC got hammered by the NCAA. Who DO you want- a guy at some mid-major, or someone floundering at a big school? A promising but unproven coordinator?
Let's call it what it is; Ole Miss is not a playoff-caliber program, and Kiffin has pushed them into contention. He's shown what he can do at a mid-level SEC program as the boss. LSU is, by all accounts, a bigger program, and for whatever reason they feel they can bring him in. Why would they not want him, and why (if they are in fact a bigger program) would he not strongly consider making the move?
