CBS may be out, but 2024 is still a ways down the road. I wouldn’t assume Disney gets this without a fight. The SEC will require an exclusive OTA national window that Disney does not have space to give, at the moment. They will have to give up some other rights to make this work. NBC could offer that, with a little cooperation from Notre Dame (who would benefit from having their home games be part of a doubleheader with the SEC game of the week). If ABC can’t offer the exclusive window, and NBC passes, that might bring the streaming services into play.

Says who? I get that it was a big deal when the current contract was signed (Slive admitted exposure was the biggest reason for the original deal) but that was
a LONG time ago especially in terms of the
growth of CFB.

The BIG didn't GAS about exclusivity and has the best TV deal in CFB.

We had better be careful what we wish for. Disney-ABC

While the Mouse may own ESPN and ABC, they are still in the pocket of the ACC. If they were not then when they gave the LHN a studio in TX they would have HQ'ed the SECN in the ATL or NASH.

CBS is nat compared to Disney. There is no way cbs can put up much of a fight to matter. WB's 1100 games faded away and so will cbs'.

Besides I watch most games with the sound muted and listen to the radio call instead. They can be pinko commies or right wing nutjobs, its all the same when you can't hear them.

I swear for whatever reason, CBS has the best HD. Their picture always looks best. That’s the only thing I’d miss.

Is that why the ACC network is headquartered in Bristol? If ACC had its way, it would have been in Charlotte.

Fitting that this comes at the same team as the A1abama decline.

Beth Mowins and Michael Sam will be calling the games if Disney gets their hands on it.

You won’t, stupid. I’m guessing you’d love to have god and guns smeared all over the broadcast though.

If we get NBC and they broadcast like Sunday Night Football, I won’t complain.

Most will probably think this is great until they see the product.

Yep. ABC/ESPN already has deals with all 4 of the other major conferences. Now they have to fit the SEC's best game into that mix somehow. As much as we hated those 2:30 CBS kickoffs, we take for granted the fact that our best game each week is guaranteed a national network broadcast at a time with practically no other major games competing against it. And we had CBS completely devoted to us, pushing the narrative that we are the only elite conference and our champion always deserves a playoff berth. We won't get that type of loyal devotion with ABC/ESPN having to placate all the conferences. Playoff committee members always watched our 2:30 game with our best teams. Now they will have to pick between that or Penn State/Michigan etc. CBS is what made the rest of America start to notice the SEC.

And this will likely be the beginning of the dreaded regional network broadcast like the NFL has, where ABC will play multiple games at the same time. Live in Florida but want to watch the LSU Ole Miss game? Too bad because ABC is playing FSU Georgia Tech in your market.

This is a cord cutter's nightmare. This will make ESPN and cable tv have an even bigger grip on college sports. The more we can spread the national games out between the 4 broadcast networks and ESPN, the better. Now CBS and NBC are practically out of the college football business. ESPN/ABC has no check on its power or influence. They can push any narrative they want.

NBC has done a great job with their NFL, EPL, & IndyCar coverage. I think they would do a good job with capturing the feel of SEC football. Only question would be ND conflict

Because it literally is clearer. CBS broadcasts in 1080i. ABC broadcasts in 720p. 720p is less blurry for fast motion (such as a football game) though.
