They make it sound like an either/or situation. Play football and get Covid or don’t play and don’t get it.

It’s ridiculous. Most people will get this regardless of what decisions they make.

They should move forward with no fans if they are that worried.

What makes it even more ridiculous is those same things can and do happen with other virus like the flu.

How Flu Damages Lung Tissue

They refuse to put things into context and make out like it's this big new thing.

I don’t think people who are staunchly against masks would suddenly wear one because we have a different President...

Seems it would be obvious for every human to know that killing people is bad but we still have people that do it. People are going to do what they want no matter what leaders in authority say most of the time.

Not to mention the fatality rate is no where near what they originally claimed and if it had been reported accurately from the start we wouldn't have done most of the stuff we've done thus far.

Lol, this guy.

Let's walk through it. What's the currently projected fatality rate?

That guy doesn't care about reality, he just wants to spin anything he can to his agenda.

I say let every player that wants to play, let them play and let every fan that wants to go to a game. let them, and if they all get sick and their families get sick "it is what it is".

Less than 0.25%

For reference, when this all started they would quote 3-5% using case rates without any context on what the real number would be.

Whats the real reason then?

A couple that come to mind:

A growing risk adverse mindset in leadership and management over the last 20 years. Just look at how often work is called off for storms/snow etc.

Litigation - the reasonable prudent person standard means basically go with the herd these days.

Politics - the compliance cabal will come after any entity that attempts to take on covid risks.

Let's go with 0.25%. It's highly contagious, so, let's say without mitigation or interventions it infects 75% of the US population. At 0.25%, that's a little over 600k deaths.

The main problem is when the hospitals get overrun. In that case, you have additional deaths from people who would have been in the 99.75% that survive, but don't because they can't get treatment.

Every single one of these major football announcements are due to financial concerns and not the virus. Reporters keep spreading paranoia that UConn or the MAC cancelling will lead to the P5 cancelling when the reality is that the financial concerns are wildly different.

- The P5 conferences are going conference only or +1 because it allows member teams to void rent-a-win games that would be unprofitable without a capacity crowd.

- This, in turn, caused the MAC to cancel fall football because it would be financially devastating to take on the expense of a season without the revenue of 4 big money games.

- UConn canceled football because they are independent and had no one to play. They were already in discussions to potentially disband football before there was a virus.

- The major conferences are looking stronger, more organized, and more prepared for a fall season by the day, while it is the non-P5 that are not looking so good. Reporters need to recognize the difference.

hospitals are not seeing a drop in patients. My dad is currently in one in a conference room because there are no rooms available.

Nationally they are dropping very fast...as are cases...in a month this will not be a pandemic

Close friend lost his Father to it this morning. He was in his early 70’s and in terrible shape, but did die from C19 nonetheless

Wow, no way so ignorant... currently death rate running 1.6% of positive tests...CDC estimates real spread 6-20% higher...let's go with 10%...death rate 0.16%...average death 73 years old....13% of population over 65... wouldn't get near your 600k..61% of population is basically not impacted unless they are obese or have other illness

Yes, they are taking rare extreme reactions and portraying them as a legit health concern for regular people.

As you mentioned, flu and other common illnesses can cause terrible health outcomes and long term problems in certain people.

It’s completely dishonest, and intentionally misleading.
