Cafe Strudel isn't even in the city of Columbia.

yeah no shite lol if we are going out to west cola then it's Maurice's hands down - assuming this is best place to grab a relatively cheap bite to eat on gameday and not looking for fine dining.

Cafe strudel looks like gay version of East Bay Deli lol

Yea, that’s the one. I know the cotton district/downtown is where it’s happening now, but, honestly, back when I was there, highway 12 (the vegas strip) probably had just as much quality food joints: christy’s, petty’s, brewskis (had crawfish during crawfish season), casa bravo.

Starkville should just build some pedestrian paths beside highway 12, remove the open container laws, and let the MSU students drunkenly make a tour from the liquor store at the beginning down to the waffle house on their off-season Saturdays. Stark would instantly become the indisputable goat college town.

Starkville seems committed to being a retirement community instead. What can ya do?

I wouldn’t think of Cafe Strudel unless someone wanted to wait an hour for brunch? It’s good but no. Awful list.

Malone's, Tony's, Jeff Ruby's...

I'd never heard of Postmaster's either.

The correct choice for Mississippi state is Two Brothers Smoked Meats.

Bulldog burger co is very good but you are correct, Two brothers is clearly better. Starkville has some good eats.

Go to Mary Mahoney’s for lunch. Same food for about a third of the cost.

Great restaurant though.

I’ve never eaten there but have heard and known about it for a long time . Ronald Reagan wrote her a personal note while he was President . George Bush also ate there and some of the celebrities who have eaten there include Denzel Washington, Charles Bronson, Barbara Eden of “I dream of Jeannie, and Diana Ross.

I heard the food is awesome. Need to put that on my bucket list.

There's hundreds of better burger places.

The Vortex blows The Varsity out of the water.

The super hero pizza place done from the vortex was cool. Just too many belligerent folks and weirdos in and around the area to make it a regular stoping place. Last time I went a homeless woman threw shite at folks waiting to get in.

Doesn't Columbus Ohio have around a million people and the best they can come up with is a chain chicken tenders fast food place? Maybe its the name of a local place also and im just not aware.

Columbus has a ton of really good restaurants. I have no idea where that came from.

Well I know we are off topic but it is known as the best New Orleans restaurant outside or inside the Big Easy. Another great restaurant on the coast that gets overlooked is Steve’s Marina in Long Beach. Tremendous local eatery right on the water.

Back to Starkvegas, IMO, Central Station Grill is quite a good eatery. Neat location along the RR too.

Other than it being right across the highway, why would anyone pick The Varsity as being the best?

Why would Atlanta be on a college town list?

Obviously there is no way to pick the best restaurant in a major city, must have been going with best associated with the school

Even at that, back in the day I liked Junior's better.

Fayetteville never had enough southern influence to have a different variety of foods. They do have expensive high scale resteraunts which are nice but I never cared for them.

Says the guy who recommends "Catfish Hole".

If a person was going to eat Catfish in Fayetteville, I'd send them to EMC before Catfish Hole. Catfish Hole is by far the most overrated restaurant in NWA. Its kind of embarrassing that we used to send recruits there so Fatty Boomer could paw all over them.

In Fayetteville, Hugo's isn't the best one, but if someone was visiting Fayetteville once, I'd take them there, because it is very "Fayetteville" to me. Whoever said Fayetteville isn't Deep South but "more hipster" is correct. We're more a great coffee/beer town than a "good southern cuisine" town.

Feed & Folly is my current favorite. Mockingbird Kitchen is another. Vetro is incredible, but pricey. I have no idea what college kids prefer in Fayetteville these days.

I'm far from a food snob, and probably spend most of my dining out $$$ at sports bars, because I like to drink and watch sports. Bentonville's food scene kicks Fayetteville's arse, but that's a rich town, full of rich business travelers.

Wonder how Covid is going to affect them long term since business travel has taken a huge hit since the pandemic began and most predictions show business travel to make a very slow recovery.

Cuts both ways. While travelers aren't coming to town, the local corporate people haven't been leaving town.

It has probably hurt hotels, but the restaurants seem to be cranking along. Non-stop population growth and disposable income, for the win.

Robert Plant, Natalie Wood, Paul Newman and at least four Presidents had a bite in Mary Mahoney's and list goes much longer. You feel a strong historic aura in the place, which supercedes the beauty and even the food, imo. It's one of the coolest restaurants around anywhere.
