The Varsity for GA Tech is hilarious. It's got history but it's a Burger and Hot dog place. There's hundreds of better places in Atlanta.

There's hundreds of better burger places.

The Vortex blows The Varsity out of the water.

The Dixie Chicken is nowhere close to the best restaurant in the B/CS area. It's not even the best restaurant on University Drive.

Just off the top of my head, the following are all better than the Dixie Chicken: (not including national chains)

Chicken Oil Company
Wings N More
Laynes
Freebirds
Harvey Washbangers

The Grill isn't in the top 10 for Athens restaurants.

Mama Goldbergs was my favorite part about Auburn the few times I've been.

Momma G's is good on gamedays and when you're hungover but come on now. Niffer's, Acre, The Hound, Amsterdam's are all great. Gimmie Venditori's and Laredo's for ethnic food.

Archibald's? The best restaurant??? Seriously? I get that many think it's the best BBQ, but the best restaurant?

Someone actually thinks that The Varsity is a better restaurant than, oh, I don't know...Ruth's Chris, for starters?

Momma Goldberg’s for Auburn has to be a joke. I’ve only been to Auburn once but there’s no way that’s the “best” restaurant in town

Faytteville lacks a lot of good burger places, local diners and country/soul food.

Hugos is ok but Patricks of Springdale is much better and you get a double cheeseburger with crinkle cut fries at $10 or less.

Now the best atmosphere including service that I have witnessed would have to be the Catfish hole. The hushpuppies and honey butter sauce is awesome.

Bulldog Burger?

Lol Little Dooey, Restaurant Tyler, Dave’s, and a couple others are better than that place. It’s good but not the best in Starkville.

Ajax Diner in Oxford? LMFAO

Archibalds is good bbq in Tuscaloosa but it’s not the best restaurant. Depalmas, The River, Half Shell Oyster, and numerous others are better restaurants.

Whoever made this list should be ashamed and has committed a great dishonor. Death by Seppuku is the only remedy

This list might actually make sense if it were "Best Place To Get Food On Gameday In Every College Town", although even then it would be highly subjective. Based on the names/cuisines, it does appear that a lot of these places are definitely not upscale dining.

Momma G's was pretty good back in my day, but it's still just a sandwich joint.

Chain restaurant that originated in Mississippi

I did not know that. In that case, I'd have to go with City Cafe in Northport. I absolutely loved their fried catfish.

Mugshots is a chain restaurant specifically for college towns. It’s a good place to eat, was my favorite lunch spot when I was at MSU. Always got a Stus magic mushroom burger and cheese wedges. I miss the old downtown original location with the upstairs bar and balcony. Well whiskeys on Wednesday night for a quarter until midnight. Now it’s just another chain restaurant with no uniqueness and food quality isn’t as good as it used to be. Sad really

That wouldn't apply to the Dixie Chicken. You go to the Chicken to drink beer and play 42, not to eat.

Since we are on a restaurant topic I recently ate at Mary Maloney’s old French house in Biloxi and that might be the top 3 best places I’ve ever eaten. Would recommend if you’re willing to spend 90 dollars a person. Cool place too, was built in 1737. Sorry for the derail

Sadly Fayetteville is a different culture than the Deep South SEC towns. Nice place but it’s more hipster to me overall

I've lived in Lexington my entire life and went to UK. Had never heard of Postmaster's Pub until this thread. Googled it....it looks fine, but that's a new place and took the spot of another restaurant that closed due to pandemic.

My only point is if I haven't even heard of the place, it isn't Lexington's best.

You come here, I'm sending you to Merrick Inn, and get the prime rib.
