Cool, I am digging the stories and the history more than the architecture and aesthetics of the buildings.

The Louisiana Capitol stood in for The University of Texas Tower in a 1975 NBC TV movie starring Kurt Russell as Charles Whitman (UT refused the production access to The Tower in Austin).

The old Louisiana capitol was captured by the Union. Became a garrison.
They used BR as a staging point to split Louisiana in half with the Red River.
They tried numerous times to move up the Red River to capture Shreveport.
It wasn't until the war was over that the Union moved into NW Louisiana and East Texas.

I never pictured scrooster as someone who hated servicemen who died for their country.

I was hoping for that too. Fisticuffs have broken out from time to time with elected officials all over the world.

This is true. The inside first floor with the chambers is honestly nice. Huey P was gonna make it nice per his style.

Obviously why it’s the tallest in th Country. Long’s ego knows no bounds.

I often wonder if he would have beat FDR for President, because he was going to be the main other option.

behind what city on the list?

You aren't going to say Atlanta I hope...

I'm from Atlanta, my great, great, great grandaddy was a man by the name of Thomas Brown. His brother, Joe, was the good governor of the great state of Georgia when Abraham Lincoln perpetuated his illegal and unconstitutional war to suppress the rights of Southern citizens.

I am a rare native Atlantan (several generations), and Atlanta is a shithole anymore...

(eta - my uncle has Joe's desk, which has a bullet hole from one of Sherman's boys in it)

Well aware. I wish they would bring back the 10 step dual shoot offs

ETA: think of Pelosi vs AOC stepping off to turn and shoot each other. I’d be front row to watch

The fricking madlad watching over his abomination. Huey was all in on that thing I think he spent about 5 million bucks on it in 1930. Our old capitol is sharp af now but that wasn’t always so, it is also small.

Kentucky's is in a random small town. It's nice and all but very out of place.
Kentucky's is in Frankfort because its dead between the two biggest cities in the state....Louisville and Lexington.

Lexington was originally the capitol. Louisville grew early on due to barge commerce down the Ohio and Mississippi and wanted the capitol to be there. The compromise was reached to put it in between in Frankfort.

Lexington was never the capital of Kentucky (although it was by far the most advanced and cultered city in Kentucky's early days), and Frankfort was not chosen as a compromise between Lexington and Louisville because of its location.

Frankfort was chosen as the capital in 1792 when Kentucky broke off from Virginia as a seperate state by a committee who was tasked with selecting a capital for the new state based on criteria that included willingness to assist in construction of the new capital building. The true (and very boring) story of how Frankfort became the capital is Frankfort offered much more manpower and building materials toward construction of the new capital building than any other city. They simply had the most attractive construction bid of all the towns that submitted bids.
