Both allegedly tampered, both claimed they followed legal protocols for recruiting. One did it in the allotted time frame and the other didnt. Cristobal may or may not have tampered, but he contacted the recruit in the allowed time frame. Its really not hard to understand for ppl not emotionally attached to the situation.

They all do it. I genuinely don't care. We don't have to like it; it is the wild west and rules don't apply. The inmates are running the asylum, and the sport is worse off for it.

To be clear, the portal was still open when Ferrelli re-entered to sign with Ole Miss. The only difference between Ferrelli and Mensah, Umanmielen, etc. from a timeline perspective was that Ferrelli was enrolled in classes at Clemson which is irrelevant to the situation.
Other than that, it's a simple buy out of a revenue share contract, just like Mensah, Umanmielen, Devin Harper, etc.

Cristobal waited until just hours remaining in the portal to tamper with someone who was under contract and enrolled at another school.That is much worse than anything that Kiffin and Golding did. Kiffin didn’t wait until the 11th hour to do that with Demond Williams. Pete Golding didn’t wait until the 11th hour to do that with the Clemson Linebacker. And Miami didn’t just get Mensah from tampering. They also tampered with Mensah’s favorite target, Cooper Barkate, who is one of the best returning WR’s in the country. Cristobal tampered with 2 studs at the 11th hour who were not in the portal, who were under contract at another school, and enrolled at another school.
Legitimate sports media ostracized Kiffin and Golding for what they did, and outside of a brief Joel Klatt clip, no one called out Cristobal and Miami, despite the latter doing something far worse. The ACC Commissioner cried about tampering and the integrity of college football when he attacked Ole Miss, but he said NOTHING about Duke, the defending champion of his conference, getting fricked over due to tampering.
The hypocrisy is crazy. Kiffin and Golding get crucified because they’re in the SEC and they’re viewed as a troll and the guy with the scruffy beard. Ryan Day and Mario Cristobal get no criticism because they’re not in the SEC and are viewed as a “tough” and “nice” guy respectively. It’s insane.
