List is terrible but I don't think anyone on here would dispute that. Who the hell thinks Ohio State Penn State is a better rivalry than Tennessee - Bama.

Making it more SEC oriented, I think LSU- Ole Miss and Deep South Oldest Rivalry are better games and rivalries than LSU - Bama. Ole Miss and LSU have been having classic games since the 1950s and are border states. Auburn and UGA are the original SEC rivalry game. LSU Bama didn't become a known game till like 2008. Just cause two programs have hatred for each other doesn't make it an insane rivalry. All time college football rivalries need history, hatred, and national attention.

Certainly lacks history. It is the 4th most watched rivalry game on tv, so it does generate big interest.

It should be treated like Alabama vs LSU, IMO. Historically these were not in each others’ top 3 rivals but the game has become a big deal in recent years.

This is a game that basically no one outside of the Sunshine State cares about. It averages under 4 million viewers per contest.

I think it would get more interest if it wasn’t played on Rivalry weekend. It just gets overshadowed by bigger contests.

If they played this game in September, I think it would generate far more interest outside the state.

Leaving off Auburn vs LSU is a really bad miss on their part.

While it’s no longer played annually, few rivalries have produced more iconic moments during the last 40 years than this one.

I’m not an LSU fan, so I can’t speak for how they order their rivalries, but I would think Auburn vs LSU should have been ranked ahead of their games vs Arkansas and Mississippi State which were both included on the list.

Its not watched cause its a rivalry game. Its watched because its an big game being played. Not every top 10 matchup is a rivalry game. Also the reason so many people watch Penn State and Ohio State is because they are such large schools in general. LSU Bama was always an interesting storyline because of Saban. Besdies that no bama coach ever prioritized playing LSU. And historic LSU coaches prioritized Ole Miss.

The Athletic is the sports department of the New York Times.

No one has their finger on the pulse of college football like the New York Times.

Minnesota has the coolest rivalry trophy names.

vs Wisconsin - Paul Bunyan's Axe
vs Iowa - Floyd of Rosedale
vs Michigan - The Little Brown Jug

Them including A&M/Baylor makes the list an automatic joke.

Texas A&M vs. Texas Tech was a way more heated rivalry.
