People who don’t care about baseball aren’t going to suddenly become fans because of a change of venue.
Tune in right now and look around at the less than half full met. Why? Why would it be full...it's Midday Thursday in Hoover fricking Alabama! If you're a diehard fan sure...you might take off and make the trip...aside from that? No.... you ain't doing it till your team makes it to the weekend.
On the flip side... say this was in Nashville...maybe in Louisville in the heart of bourbon country not too far removed from derby, maybe the Atlantic or Gulf coast? People could look at it and say... let me take my summer trip AND take in some SEC baseball... if my team gets bounced on Tuesday so what...im at a cool destination.
But no... we're gonna stick with Hoover because the parking lot is large and the old crowd likes eating at the same chain resturants and getting coffee at the same gas stations year in and year out.

But this board keep telling me the magic is real... that the RV lot is the only attraction this tourney needs... should be packed

The SEC tournament attendance record of 171,288 was set just last year, about 9,000 more than the previous mark set in 2019. Too early to tell for this year but attendance has been trending upward. For comparison, the Big 12 drew 132k for its tournament last year.

Apparently, the biggest selling point is.... parking.
Have you ever tried to get out of that place after a game a on championship day? It’s a disaster and takes forever to get back on the interstate from Met.

That is certainly going to upset some people in this thread.

That’s right, screw all those people who have carried this tournament all those years and made it a family tradition. To hell with them.
Put it somewhere else that no one will go to because, well, who knows, just because I hate Alabama I guess. Good enough reason.

Like I said earlier, if it ain’t broke, then break it. That is what many here want.
Change for the sake of change is not progress.

Some view it as a family tradition to follow their teams to these venues and enjoy the experience. Like some folks want to move the cws from Omaha.
No particular good reason, just some personal vendetta of some sort.
Like these new pricks wanting to move everything to texas for their convenience. Screw all of them.

Harp on parking all you want, but getting out is a disaster. So may as well hang out in the parking lot and tail gait till the traffic lightens up.

It should be hosted in the Mecca of Baseball.

Again, the SEC tournament will be held in the southeast. I realize some seem to not realize where states are located, so here is a good reference. That region to the bottom right? That is the southeast.

quote:Nah bro. It should be held at Modern Woodman Park in Davenport Iowa.
Again, the SEC tournament will be held in the southeast.
The stadium has a great backdrop or something, so forget that it is a A Ball stadium outside of the SEC footprint, and only has a capacity of 4,321.
All the RV people can park in a cornfield or something.

From an opinion article in AL.com. Not posting link…well, because it’s AL.com. Article mentions several thoughts on tournament that have been mentioned here.
Not sure if it’s been mentioned in this thread but the article states “ Hoover enters the final year of its contract of hosting the SEC tournament every year since arriving in 1998”
When does the SEC office make the decision about next hosting site?

North Carolina it is, then.

This tournament should absolutely be rotated around the conference.
