That's nice. UF won 2 Men's Basketball titles and 2 Football titles from 2006-2008.

re: 16 Team Playoff Inc

16 teams means the first round is 8 games. Tough to do when the NFL owns the weekends. Also tough to do 4 games in a day, unless you have games on against each other. But if you don't do 4 games a day, then you can't do the whole thing in 2 days. If you have a 3-3-2 schedule over 3 days, then you have either play games during the day while most people are at work, or you have games play at the same time. You might think you can do it during Christmas and New Years, but sometimes they happen on the weekends, what then? The NFL isn't going to drop off the weekends to be nice to CFB. I just don't see how it can be done with more than 4 games in a round.

But someone else said the second round should also be on home campuses, and that I fully agree with if the 12 team playoff is kept. Getting a top 4 seed should mean something, and it would certainly help with the issue of the top seeds losing all the time. But you can't do it with 16 teams, because it would mean the top 4 teams would get two home games, and what if they lost? Then somebody else has to host, and who can put together a football game in a week? It's a massive logistical undertaking. Just selling tickets alone is going to be insane. Or, the school that lost would have to host a game in which their own team wasn't participating. What a disaster that would be. So only the first round games can be home games in a 16 team playoff.
It's amazing that after years of mediocrity on the basketball court we caught lightning in a bottle and clawed our way to a title through sheer grit and determination.

But it's even more amazing the number of fans who now seem to think titles are our birthright and anything less than 30 wins a year means you are a garbage team...
This.

I agree with Ohio State that Michigan Sucks.

I also agree with Michigan that Ohio State sucks.

Probably a condition of his contract.

Hasn't been long enough. Bama fans haven't had the spoiled rubbed off of them yet.
Why in the world would you want a bowl game? Three weeks of pointless practice with a coach who would only be here because of the bowl game, players who don't care? Last time we did that the interim only practiced them about twice a week and we got shellacked by Central Florida. You want to be 4-9 that badly?

He's not wrong.

But I do feel like FSU mailed it in against us. I mean, if they won they are 6-6 and would get three more weeks of practice plus likely the Fenway Bowl, who wants to play a bowl game in Mass? This way they get to go home for Christmas break. Yes, it's the rivalry game, but it's not like they could have even pissed in our cornflakes, our cornflakes were already quite yellow and soggy. I could see getting an effort if they could have at least kept us out of the playoffs, but keeping us from getting to 4-8?

On the bright side, at least now we won't have the debacle of yet another pointless bowl game with an interim coaching staff, where the coaches and players don't care and we end up being embarrassed by some other crappy team that actually showed up.

How about Golesh at USF? Younger guy, has had decent results, supposed to be a good recruiter. I think with the speed at which the game is changing, having someone who is still young enough to adapt would be a good thing.

re: Even if UF doesn't hire Kiffin

Actually, if you don't count interims, it's basically 5 years. Unlike Georgia, which is...basically 5 years.
Kiffin hates us, has since his UT days. Really don't want to hire any more coaches that hate us. Will Muschamp and Dan Mullen were enough, no need to shoot for the trifecta.

(I chose not to include Don Devoe as he was basketball.)

You know, we could easily be 1-6 right now. We had three of our games won before Billy decided to Napier his way to a loss. We won two of them anyway despite him. Defense bailed him out twice, only fell down against USF. He let Texas back into the game, he let MSU back into the game. He let USF back into the game.

I held out hope for far too long. Far far far too long. But when I saw him take the timeout against Texas to save the 10 second runoff when we were trying to run out the clock, that was the final straw.
The playbook is what it is. Can't change it now. But maybe some unpredictability? That would be nice.
I gave up on Billy ever figuring it out when he called a timeout to stop a 10 second runoff when we are trying to run out the clock. I mean, I had mostly given up already, but that really was the final nail.

I can live with the timeout, but tell the refs you want the 10 second runoff! Also not sure why the clock didn't restart after the ball was set. The clock had been running, should have continued running. It was shades of the Dallas Bakeer head slap game where the refs let (the real) UT have an extra minute so they could drive for a winning FG. I would have been all over the refs about that. (But, if that is the actual rule, that the clock stops when a helmet comes off, I'm telling my defense whenever we are behind and need the ball back to be throwing shoulder pads into helmets to try to knock them off, free timeouts.)

Hard to upgrade from a guy with Jordanesque crunchtime results.
When I saw the Texas game was a day game I thought "They wouldn't give us a night game because the Swamp would be so crazy we might beat them".

After we won anyway, I thought "TAMU will definitely be a night game to minimize our chance of beating them"

And here we are.

He has a real knack for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Fortunately the defense had other ideas.
The sad thing is, Napier found a good DC and gave him the defense, now the defense looks good. Why couldn't he do the same with the offense? Pride goeth before a fall.
Hold the phone there buddy. You beat Florida, the Florida who is heading like a freight train to 1-5.
I'm just glad I no longer allow delusional preseason optimism to push me to make a prediction I will later deeply regret.
