However, since 2000, the program has had just three teams finish ranked, and only one above No. 18.

Certainly an oddball here. No fanbase, irrelevant football, and a mediocre program in the Modern era. How are they overrated and who is even rating them? That's like calling Rutgers overrated.

Like the writer, we have a youngster who is too young to be commenting on college football history past 2008. I'm not sure what you mean by "modern" era. I guess that means since you've been watching football. Anyway,

Pitt was amoung the finest programs in the country for many years including a run from 1976 to 1982 where they lost like 10 games total. Not lately but their history is very decorated.

Notre Dame and texas is a joke as well. Good lord. This may be the worst list of anything compared anywhere related to anybody.

Chris Walsh is a 50 year old Hall of Fame sports writer who has been nominated for two Pulitzer Prizes, and authored 25 different books on college football, and his metric for the ranking is clearly spelled out and transparent. It’s not a subjective ranking.

Maybe recently, but are we ignoring the 1960-2000?

Those years are included in the metric. Every year since the Poll started is included, according to the author.

Some of y’all need to learn how to read

He has an easy observable way to measure this. Preseason ranking vs final rank

It’s simple. You can be overrated and still a decent team.....
