gee. I didn't realize Frost was doing so well. I kind of expect you guys to hire Bob Stoops, but sounds like Frost may be at least as good a choice, given his age and upside.

I hope you guys get a good one. I'm a bona fide Bammer but I like UF pretty good.

But it's not a lateral move by any stretch of the imagination. Florida is a huge step up from State and Mullen knows this just like everyone else. Mullen has done an excellent job at State and I can see why State fans wouldn't want to lose him.

I'm not sure Mullen is a great recruiter, and that's one of McElwain's problems.

The timing of the move, if significant, would point to a coach that isn't currently leading a team (Kelly/Stoops) or someone who will garner massive interest from other schools (Frost/Campbell)

The timing is 100 percent due to'fired for cause' gambit. If UF wanted to take that risk it had to be done quickly for it to have any weight and as such I see it as a case the AD will eventually lose but for whatever reason the AD thought trying it was worth a shot.

I wondered why it took so long for an Ole Miss fan to pop in here with this. I guess y'all are taking that loss to Arkansas extra hard this morning because you're off your game.

I'd be surprised if Florida gambles on an "up and coming" coach or coordinator again like they did with Muschamp and Mac. Also, I think Mullen is realizing he's hitting his peak at MSU. Nothing against MSU, but recruiting is much easier at UF.

Kinda crazy to think Georgia and Bama would probably have to 1&2 scoring offenses if we didn't take our foot off the gas for 2 quarters of football.

I hope Florida isn't letting Stricklin do the hiring. Last time MSU let that happen we ended up with Rick Ray.

Drebin is spot on here. I wish I could figure which of his stated reasons is most important to keeping Dan separated from Florida.

On campus and among fans who remember Stricklin's (I can't figure out why I must spell it correctly)time on campus, he and Dan had a firey relationship. Someone asked Scott to comment yesterday and he danced around his answer - "Uh we are both strong willed and say exactly what we think, and Uh Uh there were times when we disagreed." The important thing is he never said he respected Dan and I have never heard Dan say he respects Scott. I am a dinosaur. I know that, but I cannot work for a man I can't respect, and there is no mutual respect. Both men know if Dan comes to Florida it will be a never ending fight over who calls the shots, and both of these men want ot be the one who calls the shots.

Dan has that freedom at MSU. He makes the decisions - not some AD. I think Mullen and John Cohen have that respect. I certainly know Cohen knows he can't and is not authorized to tell Dan what to do.

Having that and 5 million a year makes MSU a pretty good job.

Does Dan want to go back to Florida? The word at MSU has always been that not just Dan, but more importantly his wife HATE Florida. Why did Dan come to Starkville? What tipped the scales in his decision way back when? His wife told him to come because she had spent time in the area (Old Waverly Golf Course) and loved it. Whether that makes sense to anyone who reads this is irrelevant, because at the end of whatever you might say, it is still true.

Maybe the best reason, is the second year that Dan fails to beat GA, they will be sending him Florida Death threats (Job, dog, family). At MSU, he is loved if he wins 7 games. MSU is a good place, regardless of what LSU, OM, FL, whoever might say on this place. Dan can run his 7 miles on campus each day and the only problem he will see is 50people waving at him as he passes. He wants to run the Boston Marithon? Fine, we see it as a good thing, not time that takes away from his coaching job that we pay him 5 million for. He wants to caddy for his kid who plays golf? Great! We like that kind of stuff. Our self esteem does not revolve around our FB team. Dan knows that.

His house is paid for. His vacation House, north of Atlanta is paid for. He had multiple of millions in the bank. He has his players on the field and is finally putting together a support staff who understand his program.

Florida? A great big question mark.

Is Frost going to be that hot of a name to where you have to get in front of it like this?

He doesn't seem to be a coach everyone is after like Herman.
