Austin recorded 4,597 violent crimes and 65 murders among an FBI population estimate of about 985,000. Its violent-crime rate was 466.9 per 100,000, while its property-crime rate was 3,241.9.

Baton Rouge recorded 2,199 violent crimes and 53 murders despite having only about 219,000 residents. Its violent-crime rate was 1,003.7 per 100,000 and its property-crime rate was 5,526.6.

The murder difference is especially striking:

Austin: about 1 murder per 15,150 residents per year
Baton Rouge: about 1 murder per 4,130 residents per year

So a Baton Rouge resident's citywide per-capita murder rate was roughly 267% higher than Austin's in 2025

For context, the 2025 national violent-crime rate was about 359 per 100,000. That means Austin was roughly 30% above the U.S. rate, whereas Baton Rouge was about 180% above it.

Bottom line

Austin is clearly safer than Baton Rouge statistically. Baton Rouge has about double the violent-crime rate, nearly four times the murder rate, and roughly 70% more property crime per capita.

Your obsession with Texas and Texas A&M is so pronounced it's making you look stupid. Again, seek help.

That's the monster difference — LSU reported about 8 times as many. LSU notes that under current Clery rules certain self-propelled vehicles such as electric scooters can count as motor vehicles, so that category isn't necessarily 121 stolen cars.

Forcible sexual offenses:
LSU reported 39, while UT reported 13 rapes. There is a reporting-label wrinkle here: LSU's table uses the broader term “Sex Offenses – Forcible,” whereas UT breaks out rape and fondling, so I wouldn't treat that particular 39-vs-13 comparison as perfectly apples-to-apples.
