"Everyone hates us because we are us" sounds like "boys rule, girls drool!"

harm to the team he supports.

At this point most players, in football and basketball, only care about the money.

shite, people joke about sidewalk fans, but they care more. Probably bandwagon fans too.

What is at issue, is that this guy has admitted to gambling, including on his own team, including taking the under on his own team.
You can NOT trust him at this point.

Only Tech needs to trust him and they've made their decision. As an opposing team wouldn't you want the QB to be purpsoefully tanking?

They always lose in the end. shite, they couldn’t beat us in the Liberty Bowl the year before they went to the playoffs and paid way too much to lose the Women’s CWS back-to-back. Almost worth it to see that dumbass booster getting zero ROI.

He isnt a booster. He is the booster for them.

Every well they drill seems to hit. Then he sells his company and lease and just add a number to it and starts over. Oil company I. Oil company II. Oil company III. Etc

The kid had a terrible addiction. Almost 3000 bets on many obscure sports. With my training I understand drug addiction. This one is new to me. But no normal thinking person bets like he did.
Coach McGuire says that Sorsby feels like a huge weight is off his shoulders. This is like alcohol addiction in that is one day at a time. Tech has provided him with unbelievable help in every part of his life. I don’t think he could buy a pack of gum without approval now. He has given all control over his life and finances over to advisers as required by Tech. McGuire was just asked yesterday if Sorsby would be playing in the 3rd game when he is eligible by court order. He said he is in recovery and no one knows if or when he will play. They will support him and help him because he became one of ours. If he does play I have zero doubt about him betting. His whole future is based on his recovery and if he plays, playing very well so he has a chance to get drafted. He has 6 million dollars. He doesn’t need money. BTW, he bet $90,000 over almost 3000 bets. You figure out the amount per bet. It was ridiculously small amounts. It probably wasn’t the money, it was the thrill of the bet.
I applaud Tech for helping him. He may need the carrot before him to help him recover. You can’t say that his previous 2 schools cared one bit about the person only his performance.
Also, Tech didn’t fund the lawsuit. Tech had ruled him ineligible. His lawyers submitted briefs on the case and the word is the NCAA did not contest any of the statements. Not one. The brief stated a 2 game suspension and the judge accepted the lawyers brief because the NCAA did not contest its statements. Easy for the judge to rule.
Bottom line is the kid ( I use that word intentionally) needed help and now he is getting it. We will see if he ever sees the field for Tech. I applaud Tech for helping him recover a life worth living.
I’m sick of hearing all of the crap said towards Tech. I know personally that Tech really takes good care of their athletes in all sports. They have a program that brings in speakers and mentors for the athletes. They even teach them how to interview for jobs and has people come in and give guidance on how to dress. Each athlete before graduation has the opportunity to select a nice suit or dress for future interviews. I don’t think other schools care about their athletes anywhere close to the level Tech does. I’ll get off my soapbox.
Let’s hope Sorsby straightens out his life. Whether he ever plays for Tech doesn’t matter to us.

The fans and viewers do, too. Especially now that it's all about money.

Question: why do you think so many pro sports have always looked the other way on lots of terrible, criminal behavior, but gambling gets lifetime bans?

My answer is, they know that is the one thing that kills credibility.

Actions have consequences. Hope he gets past his addiction and lives a productive life, maybe even in the NFL. But he has no business playing college football.

And Texas Tech should just be ashamed of themselves. They’re in a tough spot though and have their own addiction, Cody Campbell’s money.

These things have a way of working out though. Tech will find out that karma is a bitch.

So did Pete Rose.

This is different. This is not something he did illegal off the field. This blurs the on the field off the field and that's why it's different.

The fact you are trying to make it about "is what he did worse than this other thing?" tells me you have no clue what this is.

A cop may have a terrible addiction that causes him to steal. There is such a thing. He can't be a cop any longer though. Same applies here.
