TT is definitely going all in. They just released a video with their head coach, AD and President telling everyone why they support this decision. They even talked about him having monitoring devices installed on his phone. This is insane

This argument only holds if Pete Rose bet on his team to win EVERY game. He did not. Whose to say in the games that he did not bet on that he managed in such a way to rest or save a player so they would be in the best position to win the games he did bet on. I'm not saying that happened - Pete Rose was probably one of the most competitive players ever and I doubt he could bring himself to not try and win - but it could have and that is why there needs to be ZERO tolerance for gambling. It is so nuanced and so layered the many ways a player/coach or even staff person can affect a game.

For once I agree with KoreanDawg. I can’t believe they are backing this kid. They aren’t doing the kid any favors either. The opposing fans are going to be brutal for his “mental health” that they are ostensibly concerned about.

What happens when he bets Texas Tech -9 against Houston? Late in the 4th quarter, TT up by 4 and just needs to hand the ball off twice to run out the clock. Sorsby audibles at the line to a deep pass to try to cover the spread and throws a pick 6 giving Houston the win.
In that situation, Sorsby would have bet on his team but 100% affected the outcome of the game because of his best.

I for one find Tech’s new money arrogance refreshing. Good for them. Let them big time everyone. The system allows it and they’ve been watching Texas and A&M and before them SMU so this stuff for generations.
