No Texas does not deserve a spot in the playoffs. Yes they are a better team than Oklahoma and Texas A&M. Texas knew how the playoffs worked. They lost to Florida at Florida, even though they smoked the Sooners and Aggies. They can sit out these playoffs and watch the two teams they beat down play. This will be good for Texas and it should burn deep in their minds and hearts. Maybe next season they will realize they are nothing special and have to step up and play every game like it matters, because it does.

Lost to Florida.
Back to back overtime squeakers against Mississippi State and Kentucky.
Got blown out by Georgia.
Otherwise there are teams in the playoffs who shouldn't be going by your criteria, right?

it’s a miracle their road record isn’t 0-5

Last year….
Look man, I don’t like it either. But until the committee is made up of people that know ball, which they don’t, all they are going to focus on are wins and losses.
This year, a three loss team isint getting in.

Texas is in 5th place in the SEC standings. They have the 6th and 7th ranked teams ahead of them in the CFP rankings (who Texas beat). If Texas played Arkansas pine bluff instead of Ohio State it’s not even a discussion right now. It’s the Ohio State loss that’s holding them where they are, not Florida.

Making statements like this is honestly pretty stupid. You need to back it up with who else should be in. Just saying they should be in ignores the very obvious follow up. Who gets left out? Bama? Notre Dame?

See how that logic can work both ways? That Florida loss wouldn't mean jack diddly shite if we had instead chosen a weak P4 team to start the season instead of the real #1 team.

Your right!
We only have 2 losses (that count)

To be clear, I think 12 teams is already 4 too many, and by that criteria this years Longhorns team isn't playoff worthy. But the fact is the playoffs are expanded to 12, and you would hope with that many even the 4 beyond the 8 teams that deserve to be in would at least be competitive?
We're going to have some boring blowouts in this year's playoffs, and that's because some teams will get in without being truly tested all year long. Hell, I think Tortilla Tech may have the best team in their history this year, but that view could be distorted by the fact they haven't really faced much resistance up until this point. They may be kings of the Big12, but in reality no better than a mid pack SEC team.

It’s such a flawed system. Texas played a Top5 team in every quadrant of their schedule. They were super young and inconsistent to start the season and still gave Ohio State the best game they’ve had since September. One team converted a 4th & Goal, the other didn’t, that was essentially the game. No matter what you think of Florida, if you watch the UTEP game, you knew the likelihood of Texas going undefeated on a six week road tour through the SEC was not great. I thought it would be OU or Mississippi State, but it was the opener in Gainesville. The injuries piled up, Arch continued to struggle, and even the defense began to play conservative because they knew offensive support wasn’t going to be there. Yet Texas beat a Top10 team by three scores, won a couple OT road games, and then came home and beat another Top10 team in dominant fashion. Texas is not the same team who went into the Shoe, Arch isn’t the same QB, the offensive line is completely restructured, all the young guys are more experienced, the penalties have decreased, etc. Texas also bullied our little brother that had been tormenting the SEC for months. Why are we judging Texas on who they were in week 5 when half these teams being considered couldn’t even imagine playing our schedule?

There are TWELVE ****ing openings for teams to make the playoffs. TWELVE!
If you have to cry about whether you should be considered for the twelfth spot, do you really believe you should be there playing for a Natty?
Let's be honest. The twelve team playoff is about making money, not crowning the team who put together the best record and performed admirably all season long. It should never have been expanded beyond the four team playoff, because most assuredly, among the top four teams you will find the one team that is worthy of it.
It'll soon be expanded to 16 teams, and then someone will bitch about it again, so they'll make number 16 and 17 play a game to "play into" the last spot available like they did with the 65th team for the NCAA Basketball Tourney.
No. Texas does not desrve to get in.

No one ever said posting on a college football forum was smart
Now, Texas beat OU who beat Bama. Texas beat A&M who beat ND at home.
Why are OU and A&M ahead of Texas? Is that stupid? You, Mr, Smart Tiger who just got in bed with the biggest dipshit in college football, why is that stupid?
Fully explain please? We are all waiting

Oklahoma
We are 5th in the SEC, ahead of both Oklahoma & Vanderbilt

Texas Tech 2-0
OSU 1-0
Indiana 1-0
Miami 1-0

Georgia 2-1
Texas 3-2
A&M 1-1
Ole Miss 1-1

Everyone always says the SEC schedule is tougher than _______ league.. well some SEC schedules are tougher than others as well.
We won’t get in this year, but imo we should get in over Oklahoma and Notre Dame. Wish we could have play-in games.
7 teams In

UVA or Duke
G5 Champ
5 Play-In games
Monday: Utah @ Oregon
