Good photo of when "one of the best CFB teams ever" went into Austin and almost got upset by an 8-5 Texas team
Boy those longhorns sure aren't ready for the SEC.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

You barely beat a bad Texas team by 7 - congrats?

I think Texas will figure it out...may take a while, but we will. One thing I do know for sure...regardless of who you root for, if your team doesn't have a good-to-great head coach, you will wander in the wilderness until you do.

Ummm… you still lost the game and they won the natty. You lost to Bama in Austin the next year. You beat Bama in T-town, but still… no natty.

We do know. Only the most delusional or optimistic fan thinks we're actually going to own the SEC right away, but we do expect to be near the top of the pecking order each year. I don't think Bama, Georgia, LSU, Florida and a few other SEC fanbases think any differently if we're honest.
The fact is the Big12 was never as soft as some of you imagine. Were teams like Iowa State, Kansas, Baylor etc filled with 5* Uber players? No they weren't, but their 3*'s were still standout players on their high school team when they were recruited...and play with a massive do or die chip on their shoulder whenever the Longhorns or Sooners come to town. For many of them (as well as the coaches) those are the must win at all cost games that mean the difference between a successful season or one where the coaching staff gets shitcanned and the players all go elsewhere. Maybe I'm wrong and we'll face jihad every single week in the SEC, but I don't think the programs I mentioned and maybe a couple others have that same mindset. Of course no current SEC program wants to be the first to lose to one of the noobs, but once that's done and someone goes down, pressure is off all the rest.
We welcome the move to the SEC because now we'll have programs with actual skins on the wall and super passionate fanbases. In other words it will be nice to blend in for once and not have to carry the conference financially and name recognition wise. Beating Texas is not the only thing standing between Brian Kelly, Kirby Smart etc and the unemployment line, and the players we face every week will be among the same pool of talented players we were recruiting ourselves, not "diamonds in the rough" trying to prove their worth with heroic (and sometimes season ending) performances against the evil Longhorns that didn't even extend an offer..and so on.
So yeah, any talk of owning anything right away is just fan bluster, we know the talent level we face week after week will be different than the Big12, but we also welcome the challenge. Now instead of having one big game in DKR each year (usually OOC, we always play OU in Dallas) we will have several...and that will be a refreshing change.

Looked like just another overrated underachieving Texas team. No different than all of your teams aside from 05.
For all the hype yall sure don’t have much to show for it.

Unlike LSU, Bama and UGA, Texas did not start paying players until it became legal. Now, you get to see if you can outspend us. Good luck. I can tell you are scared.

Lmao!! That’s a blatant lie! I’m a life long friend with a Texas player (1975-1979) who was an All American. His comment has always been: “ yeah we were paid…but there wasn’t a lot of money from the boosters for the rest of us, after they paid Earl Campbell.” Darryl Royal cheated more than any other coach in the Southwest Conference. He offered scholarships and money to players without limitations his whole career. DKR quit coaching, (completely) when he had to start playing by the same rules as everyone else. Royal himself said, one of the reasons he quit coaching at Texas was the blatant cheating by the UT boosters. Every other school in the old SWC knew Texas was cheating and buying players. It was no secret.

This idea is as old as guys like you who think they are speaking for an entire fan base of any team. People are people and the same in terms of human nature.
The choice of fandom is mostly geography. Settle down.

There's some truth to what both sides are arguing here. Here's another way to look at this. The SEC has far and away more former players on NFL rosters than any other conference. The Big 12 has the least of any P5 conference. Having said that, Texas and OU have more talent than their Big 12 brethren, so they will be ready to compete in the SEC. But it will be a step up in competition.

They couldn't own the Big 12 and still felt entitled. Pretty much a perennial 5 loss team in the Big 12...
This is just who they are lol.

You just proved that you are no older than 20.
As far as Texas vs Oklahoma... Texas has the more recent National Championship, more recent National championship game appearance and more recent CFP appearance. On top of this, Texas own the H2H record. Sit down junior.

This all is true but we just look at H2H since 2000 OUU has the edge.
They have narrowed the gap H2H as it is 65-51 Texas.

While still a large gap, not as large as 76-37 (Texas vs A&M)
or 56-23 (Texas vs Arkansas)

The SEC should have more players in the NFL...you have 16 teams to feed the draft.
Big 12 has been running with 10 teams for a decade.
Big difference!

Auburn? sheeeiiitttttttt son,
Auburn. been. here..
been through the wars & got the scars and hardware to show for it.. won it all in 2010 & played for another one in 2013 - all while competing in the toughest conference & our interstate rival went on one of the most dominant runs in college football history.
Auburn will be just fine friend
