Quite frankly, yes, it would be awesome to curb stomp Texas, but they would need this game more than we do.

You dip shots act like we are an perennial participant in the CB. And when we do go, we haven't fared well.

while us performing well in the sec puts us on the cusp of taking over, a decisive win over tu will be the nail in the coffin. beating tu will create the perception that the transition of power has been made. we do stand to gain a lot by curb stomping them

A lot of fear, disguised as bravado in this thread. Thirdspur ain't skeered, though. Don't know why any Aggie would not want this game. Would think you would want it at least THIS year. A chance to come back and hammer them, and avenge the loss last year. A chance to do it in the bowl both schools have historically been tied to. A chance to have the ability to say "we beat your arse the last time we met", for possibly a long ,long, time.

I've seen A&M play in 9 Cotton Bowls and gone to the Arkie game the last 3 years in Jerryworld. It's not that exciting of a prospect to return there.

Two thoughts:

1. To anyone who is "sick of the Cotton Bowl." Learn a little something and appreciate the history of this game. Not only because of our long tenure in the SWC, but because the Cotton Bowl is one of only a handful of bowl games pre-dating WWII. Even with the loss of the parade, the BCS snub, and the move to Jerry World, none of that changes. I actually have hope that the move to Jerry World might bring a BCS tie in with it.

2. Despite where Governor Goodhair went to college, I, personally, wouldn't brag about him in any way, shape, or form. It might have worked before the rest of the country got to see him in action last primary season.

Winning the Cotton Bowl over Texas or OU would be massive for Sumlin's recruiting. We couldn't end our season any better given the way it has gone. The recruiting ramifications within Texas would be insane.

Just reading through this thread and I am reminded why Aggie really is the Auburn of Texas....

It will.

Sadly there isn't jack shite to do in Arlington as far a bar scene or nightlife but that doesn't seem to be a problem in Phoenix (Glendale is in the middle of nowhere).

Personally I think Atlanta and NOLA are far more fun.

Good chance that Atlanta and Arlington both get "bcs" bowls in this new playoff format. I've read that the Peach(Chick Fil-A) and Cotton will be added to the "bcs" bowl games to account for the two additional games.

What is unclear is the use of the Champions Bowl and it's effect on the Cotton/Sugar Bowl on a given year. But both Atlanta and Arlington are going to be bumped up to tier 1.

The Governor who has been in office for 12 years is an Aggie and has appointed every member of the Higher Ed Coordinating Board and the BoR to both A&M and Texas. The Senate Finance Committee Chair (By FAR the most powerful Senator) is an Aggie and his incoming replacement is also an Aggie. The 2 primary candidates for Lt Governor for the next election are both Aggies. It's not about volume, it's about where they are and how much power they have. A&M controls the offices with the most power and we have been able to do anything we want for the last decade evidenced by how quickly we bitchslapped Texas when they tried to stop our SEC move.

Why do you guys brag on Rick Perry, maybe the dumbest Aggie on the planet? What was his GPA - 1.9 or something - hunts at Niggerhead Ranch - is well known for his "backdoor" activities in Austin, embarrassed the entire State of Texas on national tv multiple times, and cavorts with snake-handlers.

The sooner we get rid of this asshat the better. I'm glad he's an Aggie - he's a good representative of your school.

most people I know don't hold Perry in high regard at all and resent his meddling in the affairs of universities in this state.

Also we would stomp Texas so go ahead and bring them on, their kicker won't be able to save them this time.

all flaming aside, both programs would have to agree to this matchup, right?... i'd be surprised if UT would accept a bowl bid knowing they'd be facing A&M... especially with the years both programs are having.

Yeah, the Cotton Bowl has great history. The Fiesta Bowl doesn't have great history. But this is 2012 and Fiesta is a much better bowl game, for example.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers have great history also. Do you think beating them is any sort of huge accomplishment now?

On the front side, the school is contractually obligated by the university to play in the bowl game it is given. It can turn it down but it turns down playing in any bowl game, in theory.

Now on the back end, I'm sure Delo$$ Dodd$ would try and play some games so that the matchup doesn't happen.

texas' worst nightmare has always been an A&M team out for blood with the talent to back it up.

Gotcha.... a program can obviously lobby for certain situations.

I'd just be shocked if Texas let this matchup happen... in another 5 or 6 years, when things have had a chance to simmer, it might be another story.

bottom line is this matchup needs to happen in the regular season.
