If ya’ll really have that much, you should do something crazy and hire Saban away from Bama. Double what he’s making now and guarantee it - who cares? You have unlimited money or so you say. Why are you settling for his assistants when you should really be going after him if you want to be the GOAT program?

There's rich and then there's Texas oil baron rich. But it's not about how much you have. It's about how much you're willing to spend. Texas isn't willing to out spend Bama for Saban. Bama is absolutely willing to out spend Texas for Saban.

Texas has at least won something of relevance in my lifetime, so I guess their money was well spent at one time.

This applies to all NIL and is what people don't get about NIL.

A&M, Texas and USC don't suddenly have a new magic formula that will help them dominate CFB.

If it was about money, Harvard would crush everyone in CFB.

It's about how much programs and boosters are willing to spend.

You need only look no further than who spends the most on coaches' salaries and facilities currently.

That's who'll dominate NIL. The same schools who've always dominated CFB. They are willing to spend as much or more than anyone.

Texas did go after Saban but got Herman, went after Urban before Sark…here is the kicker, they don’t want to pay top dollar for top dollar guys, go look at how much the last 4 horn coaches got paid and compare that to the SEC

For us, we got Fisher from FSU, Schloss from TCU, Buzz from Virginia Tech, got them on long contracts and see if it pays off, also note that we are a Texas school so obviously we do look for Texas guys first that know the schools and coaches of the state, hence Buzz, I’m not the biggest Buzz fan but we knew he was coming bc he wanted to be back in Texas

Look at Texas in basketball, the went and got Chris Beard, they could have gotten someone more mainstream but they took a Texas guy (obviously alum) bc it’s smart, the state produces a lot of talent for the Big 3 sports

It isn’t bragging - it’s just a fact.

What else do you want us to brag about? Cups? Blank trophies? Office artwork?

Both universities are a spitting image of texas suburbs.

All this talent, money and great coaches and yet mediocre in sports. What’s going on?

Why can’t this rich and talent rich state pee a drop?

Inquiring minds want to know why they suck.

FYI, Texas and A&M have more money.

But BAMA will pay more regardless.

Saban would be Texas' coach if UTx was willing to give him complete control of the football program like Bama does. They did offer him enough money to make him consider it, that wasn't the issue. Mal Moore only got a yes from Saban once he promised that Saban is the final word on all things football. This is why he is still Bama's coach.

The only thing bigger than their wallets are the egos of those that provided a healthy amount of it…a lot of “experts” pushing their agenda.

You got to keep that top talent in state first, easier said than done, go out how many TX guys in the past 5 years make up the Ohio State offense, that’s a problem

This is entirely true and is why Saban did not and would not consider coaching at schools who would not let him run the program without interference from boosters, boards, etc.

Texas loves to make distinctions as to how they're different from everyone else, including how much money they have compared to others.

Problem is....if you keep defining yourself by how you differ from the competition, you’re probably in trouble.

Oklahoma State is more accomplished than aggy since Gundy arrived. He’s been there a while, but they’ve won a conference title more recently than 1998.
