And if the Alabama job had """NOT""" been open when Saban decided to arbitrarily contact his assistants on the intercom that he was quitting?

Where would he be? At whatever college job was open at the time, that's where.
He's just incredibly fortunate that the Bama job was open at the same exact time that he was being crucified and vilified in Miami. (Google Randy Vataha's comments, among others.)

"I don't know how else I can say it, how many times I can tell you guys, I am not going to be the head coach at Alabama."

What pure smooth class and integrity.

I don't think swamp kittens can really get upset about lucking in to Saban. If LSU didn't fall arse backwards in to the greatest coach of all time, their national championship drought would still be longer than Ole Miss's.

All they need is for the dog to say they're staying now.

They gone.

If Terry says they're staying, I believe her.
The only people that thought Saban was leaving were non Bama fans.

I just wish they would go so I could quit hearing grown people refer to another grown woman as Ms. Terry.

It's shite children do for their kindergarten teachers and Church elders, not grown people talking to or about each other.

1) Aren't you an A&M fan? Please tell me the last time you loony fricks won a championship.

2) It wasn't like anyone was beating down the door to get Saban away from Michigan St.

Austin is a really nice city, but at this stage in his life, what would Austin offer that Tuscaloosa can't?

His kids are out of college, his lake home is in Georgia. Money isn't an issue. Facilities at Bama are probably on par with UT.

I guess, but I don't see it as a big deal at all. Its kind of weird that it bothers you.

Saban used Lsu as a stepping stone, he was smart to leave that shithole. Just be thankful he made you guys relevant. :thus TD: And enjoy Carl from Slingblade as your gift.

This reminds me of an old quote I made from a couple years ago. Someone had it as their sig for a while.

LSU will always be known as the school Saban used to warm up with before taking on the SEC for real at Alabama.

You can't see Saban mingling with the hipsters outside of a taco truck talking about local breweries and mustache wax?

Exactly. LSU fell arse backwards in to him. It isn't like y'all were the kind of program a coach with a national championship on his resume would leave the NFL midseason for. Y'all might be closer to that now, but like with all things, people want to give their program some sort of institutionally ingrained right to winning, and never attribute any component of success to luck. Aggies are the same way.
