Tennessee gives scholarship to bullied kid in Florida

I know we have fun here but it's really cool to see this kid (4th grader) get a full ride because he dared wear his team's colors with a homemade t-shirt. Very nice.

this is a feel good story and I'm glad the kid has had his spirits lifted but c'mon. It was school spirit day and he wore an orange shirt. He didn't have a UT shirts so scribbled on some notebook paper, tacked to his shirt, and some other 10 year olds in his class laughed at it. He didn't do anything courageous, nor was he beat up or really even treated any worse than you or I would have been if we'd done the same thing. It's perplexing to me the attention thsi story has gotten. First from the teacher that jsut had to let social media, to now UT not only licensing the drawing but giving a scholarship (btw lol if anyoen thinks that offer will stand for 13 yeras).
I just don't get it.

What I wonderful decision by UT. I previously posted on twitter and reddit that the child should be compensated for his art. I'm glad that UT did more.

No motherfrickin Hands Across America for me, I got told to "toughen up" and "don't
think you're not going to school today because some kids are picking on you, I gotta go to work and don't have time for that shite". I handled getting teased the old fashioned way, teasing back and cracking skulls.
