Florida:
QB battle is seemingly on going - but the word out of practice has been that Grier is for sure in the lead to start.
RB is in good hands with Kelvin Taylor the for sure starter. Both Jordan Cronkite and Jordan Scarlett are good and will play a lot next season.
WR are having consistency issues catching, route running, etc. That being said, Demarcus Robinson, brandon Powell, and Chris Thompson and CJ Worton have all had good camps.
TE's are excellent. McGee, Goolsby, and Lewis will all play a lot.
OL looking much better than where they were in Spring. Mason Halter can play any position besides center, Martez Ivey is the real deal. Tyler Jordan and Fred Johnson true freshmen that will definitely be in the two deep - Jordan good enough that he might even start if he keeps playing well. They've held up against a good front.
DL has a lot of good players, there will be a steady rotation. CeCe Jefferson will definitely contribute this year. Starters are probably Bullard, McCallister, Ivie, and Brantley, although Bryan Cox, Taven Bryan, Cece Jefferson, and Khairi Clark will all rotate a ton.
LB has been steady if not spectacular. Antonio Morrison is ahead of schedule on his recovery and is a team leader, and Alex Anzalone and Jarrad Davis have stepped up big in his absence. After those three, Jeremi Powell is probably your 4th LB right now, unless Mcmillan finally plays like the talented recruit he was. UF will play mainly 2 LBs.
DB has been ridiculous, and has been the obvious strength of the defense. McElwain has compared it to some of the very good units at Alabama during his time there.
ST is solid - Austin Hardin only missed one FG in a scrimmage Friday. Johnny Townsend is a very good punter. VH3 is returning punts. Powell kickoffs. Team putting a lot of emphasis on these units.
Overall summary - Defense is elite. Special teams are solid. Offense has a lot of work to do, especially mentally, but has shown a lot of potential in spurts. Has not put it all together yet.
Big positive so far - no serious injuries. Just a few dings here and there. Knock on wood.

Interested in reading some report summaries on other SEC teams.
Areas of personal interest:
Arky - QB, wr, defense as whole.
USCe - RB battle, QB.
Mizzou - anything you have to say. Must have a great coach who develops talent bc i dont know anything about your team, haha. Thats a compliment.
Florida - QB situation, LBs and Dline. Who is your RB #2.
(edit: thanks slayerxing.)
TAMU break down of new defense. RB situation. Will Carson be more of a focus.
And im tired of writing so others chime in as well.

It was discovered that Quinn had bad eyesight so now he's wearing contacts and catching everything thrown at him.
Well that makes sense after that Bama game last year.

Improved pass blocking
Boutte and Alexander could be best run line tandem in SEC (from ESPN guys)this year.
Vastly improved QB play. (needs to be seen of course)
RB's are only 2-3 deep in experienced players but two top ones in fresh class
WR's are vastly improved and fast
Been hearing that the Defense is going to be nasty but I still am concerned about DT's and only one deep at MLB.
Defense scheme is looking to improve sack totals which have been poor last couple of years.
DB's are really deep.
So far no serious injuries.
Geaux Tigers! See ya in Death Valley!

Kahlil McKenzie keeps destroying our offensive lineman. Idk if our line still sucks or if he's just unblockable.

Well this consistent of spring predictions but i thought i read that guard play wasnt as strong as previous years. Maybe i misread that though? Who is your LT?
Shon Coleman will be LT, same as last year. Last season I believe he was still regaining his strength and stamina from his years in chemo and got worn down by the end of the season. He was a 5* out of HS for a reason, and after a full year starting and another offseason of training I expect a lot more out of him this year.
Guards should be strong. LG will be Alex Kozan who missed last season but was a freshman All-American in 2013 and had the highest grade of any player on either team in the BCSNCG vs FSU.
RG will be Braden Smith who is a monster.

quote:
He challenged weight-lifting records (515 pounds) and tended gardens in high school as the nation's No. 1 offensive guard. His monstrous physique spilled out of summer tank tops and turned heads once he arrived on Auburn's campus.
It didn't take long for the nicknames to flow. Teammates called him Drago, the Terminator and the Hulk, but it was his reputation and work ethic that led to several appearances at tackle and tight end as a freshman in 2014.
quote:
I was in love with Jovon Robinsons RB highlights during recruiting so ive been pulling for him to put it all together. Would love for him to be a successful player. Hopefully he gets it down
Had a 70 yrd run during a scrimmage today
quote:
What will JJ's playing weight be? Is he as nimble for his side as Cam was?
He's listed as 6'5" 240 on Auburn's site. Don't think he's as nimble or agile as Cam, but he's got good speed and is more of a power runner IMO. Going back to a interview before his junior year at the 7-on-7 in Hoover he's maintained that he just prefers to sit in the pocket and sling the ball, but when things break down and he has to run or his number is called to run he will and stats show he's no slouch running the ball.
quote:
Was the Melvin Ray hype i heard a joke or will he be very productive this year? Can he run routes well?
No joke. Idk about his route running, I'm no scout. But he's more than you can ask for as a blocker. Coach Craig said it best, he's a gamer and he always produces when he gets the chance, he just hasn't had a lot of chances yet. He's only got 13 catches in his career but averages 22.3 yards per catch, and both his TDs were for 50 yards.

Our players are rolling dice with our coaches......so don't know if anything is actually getting accomplished.

Guard play will definitely be less experienced this year, but should be much better because Chad Slade is gone and Kozan is back.
quote:
Who is your LT?
Shon Coleman. He is no GRob, but he is a big strong dude. More experienced this year.

Around 240. A little smaller than Cam.

Is he as nimble for his side as Cam was?
No.

Mostly sarcasm (All American would be a surprise), but he will be pretty good. He's tall, good speed, and I believe his routes are fairly good. I haven't seen a lot of him so tough to say, but he's definitely supposed to be pretty good this year. Great athlete and seems to have good hands.

Every last one is awesome and all our starters will make the first team All-SEC. Everyone on our 2-deep will end up on the first, second, or third team All-SEC.
In all seriousness, the defense looks pretty good, the OL and RBs are who we thought they were, and the WRs should be solid if Mitchell can stay healthy. Any info on the QBs is kept under lock and key like fricking Ft Knox. Talking Heads think it's Lambert but numerous credible insiders say that Ramsey maintains the lead.

Dupre supposedly may not even start over Charknado.
Dupre will start in the slot most likely.
The scariest thing here is that Chark and Dural are probably the speediest pair of WR's in the SEC and Harris can sling it. If they get loose they both could put up some big numbers this year. Harris has put on 20 lbs since last season and it does not appear to be an ounce of fat. He could already sling it 50 yds on his knees last season...
... and add Dante Jackson who ran a 4.26 40 recently!

I'm just gonna go ahead and upvote everything resembling actual football discussion in this thread. So refreshing compared to the rant typically.

Yea I was a bit worried about the responses I would get, but so far this has been a success. Would love to hear about some other teams who havent contributed. TAMU, Arky, state, OM, Mizzou, UK, etc. Wouldnt hurt my feelings even if the Mich and Neb fan on here chimed in. If the OSU guy chimes in i just want to hear the negatives, haha, i know that squad comes back absolutely stacked.

BAllen looks good and has been clicking well with our new OC. Our new JUCO WR is athletically freakish, very fast and has great hands (standing broad jump of 11' 11", which is 3" short of the NFL combine record). Redshirt freshman 4* WR Jojo Robinson has been very impressive and would have played last year, but was injured in practice. So we have some good receivers who are new and our passing game should be improved.
Defensively, true freshman Ryan Pulley has been very impressive at CB and Jamario Bell was moved to LB. Depth is turning out to be even greater then expected on this side of the ball.
That's the word, anyhow.

Cornwell seemingly passed by Morris since spring.
If that is truly the case, Bama is in deep trouble. Morris sucks. He has no business being anywhere near the top of the depth chart on a viable national championship contender.
