Iowa State is 8-4 but announced their team voted to decline all bowl invitations.

Kansas State is 6-6 and did the same.

Is this the beginning of the end for bowl games?

If you don’t have a coach, why play?

hope so. bowls are worthless now. can the conference title games next.

change this shite playoff format to the BEST 12 teams. frick the autobids from shite teams. add BCS computers with SOS and quality wins.

that is how you fix this.

Don’t they miss out on practice time and money?

I don’t know the rules anymore

And the Big 12 just slapped them with hefty fines for opting out: $500,000.

im even good with a top 8. 8 shoulda been max. this expanding from 4 to 12 was dumb with THIS SYSTEM.

conference title games were fine when you had to be top 2 or even top 4 as they can and DID help teams.

but now we do notr need them. teams wanna be healthy for playoff runs.

sECCG is worthless now. just name the regular season best record the champ like we used to do in the 80s.

There is too many anyway. I’d like to go back to the days of college football ending on New Years Day.

What is the point of "bowl games" not associated with the CFP?

With the transfer portal as it is, you cant say its even team practice for the next year.

It used to be you at least wanted that extra game to get your players more experience. Now? Half those players will be gone to a different team.

I'm a K-State alum (MS 1968) and agree with this decision even though we will have to pay the Big 12 fine of $500k. We have a new coach in Collin Kline who is the current Texas A&M OC and a former K-State QB. He will split time between the two schools by flying daily between Manhattan and College Station to continue coaching A&M in the playoffs and building his staff and recruiting for K-State. I'm very happy having Kline.

Yeah, and for the SEC we split the pot, so even a team that barely has a bowl record deciding to opt out hurts all of us financially. Glad to see the Big 12 is fining these teams. SEC should do the same.

Bowl games serve no point in the current landscape. The best players often opt out, a number of the others enter the transfer portal, and most programs lose money on them. No one gives a shite about some obscurely sponsored meaningless game in a random city.

If you truly enjoy CFB you can love watching Toledo play Georgia Southern in Montgomery, AL in December.

It’s outstanding even if it doesn’t matter beyond pride.

I disagree you are playing for next year. Extra practices go a long way for next year.
