1980, and he was expelled.
In other news, your school actively assisted the Chinese Communist Party in covering up information on the Wuhan Virus.

I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, not The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston (the separate institution which oversees the U.S. laboratory being questioned).
That’s like dumbasses I know who went to UT Tyler saying they root for the Longhorns “because I went to UT.”
You’re better than that, Col. Aggy. I’m sure you’d shite a golden brick if somebody who went to A&M-Commerce called themselves an Aggie.

Several thousand dollars? Try hundreds of millions. Between merchandising and relentlessly pushing it to make all you dumbbells psychoanalyze your school spirit it's quite lucrative.
I don't care. It's an objective observation. But when you consistently hear aggies tout it as this sacred meaningful thing it becomes comical when in reality it was obtained with a fabricated story and paperwork.

You seem really upset about this?

So upset it took me two days to care to check for responses.

The 12th man actually is a good tradtion when it was aboutthe regular students that lined up. Do they still actually do that?
When refering to the entire fan base is FAR from orginal. Lots of soccer teams use it. Another 11 player sport known for rabid fan bases.

My PI law is rusty.
Trademark can happen naturally, but you can also purchase a national trade mark.
I does seem odd that A&M can trademark something like 12th man, but if they have had it for a long time, abd threaten suit when peopel inpinge upon it than they likely still have legal claim.

Is 1990 (30 years) long enough? Is 1922 (98 years) long enough?
The 2006 case was important because, in the words of then A&M President and former CIA Director and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, "we were able to strengthen a somewhat weak trademark as a result of this settlement."
Prior to that, the only other teams that attempted to market and profit off of the phrase backed down immediately after receiving a cease and desist order. Paul Allen, then owner of the Seahawks and infamous for going after people for violating trademark law, was served a steaming pile of his own medicine.
If a baseball team located in Detroit attempted to market and profit off the phrase, "Tiger Bait", I'd expect LSU to sue the shite out of them and win big.
For all the shitposters in this thread, if it bothers you so much, challenge it in court. I'm sure it will go better than everyone else who has tried it.

I fully support TAMU protecting their "12th Man" trademark.
TAMU's claim to that trademark is stronger than the NFL claims, since only about 12 people still alive saw any TAMU football game from Aggie's last national championship season.

Has Aggy trademarked the thumbs up sign or just "gig'em"?

You misunderstood.
Go reread the post to which you responded.
We were discussing the licensing fee the Seahawks paid to use the trademark; not the amount of money Texas A&M earns on 12th Man merchandise sales.

No not misunderstood. You tried to cherry pick an angle that was objectively false.
Not the only question he proposed.
I didnt directly bring that up but a discussion about licensing fees kind of falls under the same umbrella as discussion about the license holder. No?
