I loved and miss the Big-8. The Big-12 could have been even better but Texas (one of the schools the old Big-8 rescued when the SWC fell apart) ruined it for everyone.

Culturally I think Mizzou is more Big-10 than SEC but when you talk athletics (not just football, but hoops and baseball as well), there's no comparison.

The energy at SEC games is off the hook too. I've been to games at the Big House in Ann Arbor and was amazed by how subdued a crowd 110,000 can be. In contrast, any number of SEC games during the regular season could pass for a Super Bowl (LSU-Bama night games in Death Valley come to mind). Oh and on top of that we're treated as full fledged members with equal revenue distribution.

Mizzou could not have done any better than to end up in the SEC. I just wish some of the haters would back off a little.

OP ... the only time it feels weird is when we play in Oxford. Nothing about that environment feels right or anything like big boy football. Otherwise, no weirdness a’tall.

What the frick are you talking about. Ole Miss games in Oxford (after tailgating in the Grove) is one of the best college venues anywhere. Definitely Must see SEC venue.

It isn’t possible for me to disagree with that statement any more.
It’s best I leave it at that.

This thread sounds like a couple douchebags high at a party wondering if they've finally made it in with the cool kids yet.

No, it doesn't seem weird. We should have been here all along.

What does seem weird is that a few particular fan bases seem to be so football illiterate when they shouldn't be.

Things all still feel new. The Auburn game was weird, felt like an out of conference game, even playing Arky still feels like one.

Fans like it, most fans still slightly follow the B12 to root for their destruction.

Hell, we left the ACC in 1971 and still root for their complete and utter destruction.

I guess because we have a long history with Arkansas and LSU, everything is natural. It seems like we've been playing the Mississippi and Alabama schools forever now. Playing USCe is still kind of weird, but becoming normal. I do wish the league went to 9 conference games.

What I do know is that I couldn't care less about playing Texas Tech or Baylor ever again.

Feels like home, but that was expected. Aside from my longhorn aunts/cousins, the vast majority of my friends/family went to A&M or SEC schools.

Gameday experiences are so much better. It was nice only driving 2 hours down to Austin, but SEC trips are worth the longer distances.

me too, it's getting old. y'all are in and some posters on this board act like juvenile's.

wait. they probably are juveniles.
don't worry about some of the yahoos on here. y'all have done well in football; not sure of the other sports.

We already earned some respect.

Ways to earn respect in the SEC

#1 Win a Natty but winning a Big 2 Natty earns the most respect
#2 Get to a Final Four (M or W), CFP, CWS, or WCWS as a SEC member
#3 Fill your home venues
#4 Travel well so the REC goes to bat for you

Winning a conference division is nice but how much does that get Arkansas or Ole Miss respect on tRant or IRL? Winning a division may be how the B1G or PAC validate themselves but SEC looks at the national level and hardware for peer respect. To be fair tho, with all the money Ole Miss spent they should at least have something to show for it.

they don't have the hardware but, they love cfb and that is one of my favorite road trips. i've been 5 times and it's like athens lite, which is a great compliment. the gameday experience is like time honored southern football tradition.

They will truly be members of the tribe if they chant "SEC" in the stands after winning their bowl game. Until then, they are still initiates.

We were hated in the SWC, we were hated in the BDF and we are hated in the SEC.

That is the way we like it.

Feels normal.
