He played at Iowa.

There’s a reason Brad White turned down that LSU DC job as well. They know what they have going in Lexington. He’s another guy that won’t leave for anything less than a step up at this point.

And yet Coach Cal can remind everyone that Kentucky IS a basketball school and the AD supports him.

If he wants to kill off his career he can go to Nebraska

Nebraska is A&M 10 years in the future, where coaching careers go to die

I think Nebraska will end up with Leipold. Kansas doesn't have the pockets that Kentucky has.

Yeah I don’t think Nebraska is the move. Iowa would be one that would worry me too once Ferentz retires

That the AD supports Cal?

Barnhart and Cal are like oil and water. He was more than happy to tell Cal no when he pitched his fit over the upgrades to Nutter and a new T&F facility coming before a new BB practice facility.

Like I said, you can tell kentucky is new to football.

I guess they don't understand what you are getting at.

It'd be like if some Auburn basketball fan said. "I can see Bruce Pearl taking the Boston College Job or some Blueblood...but not Indiana".

I've already talked about Nebraska fans literally worshiping their team and coaches. And their complete obsession with Husker football that has no rival. They have every bell and whistle there is. And obviously they have their history. And they've got money.

Kentucky has made a lot of progress, and as has been said. Lexington is really nice. However, Lincoln is nice as well. It's just cold and not very scenic. As you said, it makes a lot of sense to stay at UK for a lot of reasons. But if Nebraska made the proverbial "offer he couldn't refuse"...He might not refuse it.

So this will be the clip that gets played endlessly on the Rant after he takes the job. Appreciate the heads up.

Ironic considering that's how everyone views LSU fans.

He would be dumb to leave Kentucky for Nebraska. He should wait for the OU vacancy in a couple of years.

First off, I wasn’t the person that said that even if I do agree with the notion that Stoops would be more likely to leave for Iowa or another Blue Blood over Nebraska.

Stoops has strong ties to Iowa, played there, coached under Fry there, and his own Dad was buried with his #41 Iowa jersey. That’s less about being a better job than Nebraska, it’s just deeply personal for him.

As far Nebraska’s blue blood status, it’s similar to Indiana Basketball in that while it has championship history it’s fallen off to the point that it’s not the regular national contender it used to be. It’s not the same type of job as an Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, etc. And with the expansion of the playoff in just a couple of years, you could argue he’s in a better position at Kentucky for success if he continues what he’s doing.

But, Nebraska has become the place where coaching careers go to die.

Wrong. AD Barnhart knows where the money comes from, football. UK basketball fans will just have to realize that there’s another big man on campus.

It will take some time, I’m sure. They’ve been little bitches ever since they ran off Bear Bryant. We won’t let them run off Stoops.

Kentucky will lock him up.

Is Kentucky a better job than Nebraska?

Right now it is.

What? Are you high? AD had a press conference with Stoops after that fiasco, basically said cal needs to shut his mouth, if he doesn't perform up to expectations he'll be replaced, and then said cal needs to be patient in regards to new facilities instead of whining about it. AD much prefers Stoops to cal
