Which football program is on a better trajectory and why?

The Longhorns are 5-3 in Sark’s 2nd season and Quinn Ewers seems like he’ll be a solid QB. Texas seems to have issues closing out games though, a huge red flag for the coaching staff.

Jimbo is 3-4 in his 5th year and still searching for a QB to run his system. Is Weigman the guy?

Wins over the last 2 years
Aggies – 11
Longhorns – 10

TeamRankings projected 2022 record
Longhorns – 8-4
Aggies – 6-6

Average 247 player composite on roster
Aggies – .920
Longhorns – .907

2023 247 class rankings
Longhorns – 6th
Aggies – 17th

I’d guess Texas. Jimbo couldn’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag, so by default I have to go with Texas.

Sark drinks out of a paper bag so it may be a wash.

Texas will always be positioned for success more so than A&M. What kind of dumbass question is this? What evidence is there ever that A&M can be a championship level program?

Need to revisit this after Portal Szn. If Aggie keeps majority if that class they’ll be fine. If not this isn’t even fricking close.

A&M got a 10 year head start in the SEC and managed to completely shite the bed and will be imploding just as Texas is set to join

Can’t even make it up. Had a Heisman trophy winning QB and all the attention in the world, now has more NIL money than they know what to do with, and still can’t win

I think it’s so funny because ever since the Aggies joined the SEC they always would laugh at the Longhorns because they always thought they were better because of all the money they have….. the Aggies are literally the same thing lol

Texas. Better QB currently and I think they will be ahead in the NIL game now. I expect Texas to out recruit ATM in the coming years as there will be a lack of stability at ATM.

Aggy clearly has a major problem on its hands and we will have to see how it plays out. Either way it is bad. It is going to take time and a new coach to fix it.
Texas has a culture problem. Too many people giving input on how things should be run. It has created a soft team. Sark is no field general. Texas needs a Saban like coach that has control and the attitude to built a tough program. Right now it's pool parties and juice boxes for everyone.

Ewers looks like 10 times the QB that Weigman is, but a little unfair to compare them with Weigman having to play for Jimbo.

Honestly, neither is in a great place.

Jimbo has a mess on his hands, but if he can keep our guys in the program, there's plenty to build on going forward.

Sark is a mediocre coach. They'll always get talent, they always have, and that'll win them some games, but that won't be enough to be relevent in the SEC.

But the bottom line is we are entering a new age, where I believe A&M and Texas can both do well at the same time.

Historically, when one of us has been up, the other has been down. And that is in large part because Tech, Baylor, TCU, Houston etc. All syphoned off enough Texas produced talent to keep both from being strong at the same time. Texas is a fertile recruting ground, but that many P5 programs was just too many mouths to feed.

With Texas and A&M in the SEC, and the rest in a borderline mid major Big 12, I think A&M and Texas can both be more consistent programs. Those other schools are going to have a real hard time pulling high level talent in the new Big 12, while A&M, Texas, OU, Arky, and LSU are all in the SEC.

I'm interested to see Weigman more - he's supposed to be their next savior.

I remember when they used to look at Heisman Haynes that way.

Collectively, we are the Kennedy's of college football.

Shitpile of money.

Brief flash of glory in the 60's for one one of us, but mostly dysfunction.

A lot more foam than beer.

Lemming-like following (Guilty as charged).

That is an interesting way to look at it and it certainly seems plausible. I am too lazy to look it up, but it seems the move to the SEC certainly improved the talent level A&M has been able to bring in.

My first inclination when you guys got into the SEC was you would get killed against better competition and be a bottom feeder. Obviously, it hasn't been THAT bad and it likely will not be that bad for Texas as well.

I think the SEC should start a new trend by contracting, not expanding. Kick these two clods out of the conference.
