I still want someone to explain the volatile nature of their payment schedules. The idea that they work a lot more hours some weeks than others doesn't jibe with the clerical nature of these jobs as it is being presented.

How so?

I wouldnt say what they are doing is considered recruiting in an NCAA aspect. I believe they just fill out the mailers and show them arround campus

They are recruiting, plain and simple, and every SEC school has the same type organization.

They get around it by being off the clock while doing the actual recruiting(i.e taking recruits to parties, hosting activities, etc.) They are paid for the administrative work they do in the office.

Again, how does this mean they were recruiters in an NCAA aspect?

this topic by SportsByBrooks would be relevant if he researched other schools for comparative amounts. Hell, I guarantee Alabama is equal or more for this.

You've got your head buried, no sense showing you what they said and what recruiting is. Carry on.

Are their actions, whatever they are, in any way related to getting young men to sign and play football for Auburn University?

I don't have it burried, again, acting like hostesses while on campus=/= recruiter.

Show me what the NCAA considers as recruiting

They say they're recruiting twice in one paragraph. Just because part of it is kind of mundane, i.e. mailing stuff to recruits, doesn't mean that's all they do.

Of course they're recruiting. Whether they would be considered by the NCAA as recruiters is another question. Does the NCAA consider players recruiters? Because obviously they are.

The question is not whether they're saying come to Auburn, its great, obviously they're doing that. The question is whether they're paying them.

Not sure how it is now, but I knew a Bama Belle in the late 90's(read:Dubose years) She told me then that it was strictly voluntary and they didn't get paid a thing to do it.

Unless you count getting railed by a BBC as being paid.

I kid, but she did say some of the hostess's took the hostessing a bit too far.

re: 2004

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — From now on, Alabama football recruits will have to find their way around campus without a Bama Belle.

The university has dissolved the Bama Belles, the young women who guided recruits and their families during visits to Tuscaloosa. The change is part of sweeping recruiting changes imposed by the NCAA in the wake of high-profile scandals at Colorado and Miami.

Alecia Price, who oversaw the Bama Belles, told the nearly 50 members that their group would be dissolved late last month.

Do they go visit recruits, do they call them? there is a difference between an on campus host/hostess and a recruiter

Then their paychecks SHOULD be consistently the same amount, week after week, if they are essentially office clerks on a fixed schedule BUT the actual amounts paid tell a different story.

They're being paid. They said their main duty is to recruit young men to play football at Auburn. Sounds alot like recruiting on the school's dime to me.

Or they could be hourly and work a non fixed schedule, like most part timers

Especially when the largest check came in the time frame a 5 star QB committed and another 4 star athlete also did.
