I've been watching the aggies play football for a long time and I am convinced A&M will never win another national championship. Their culture & rituals are too weird to attract elite athletes and coaches.

I would like to congratulate a&m for another glorious step on their path of total SEC domination.
It's a gigantic frickup fest.

2 talented teams who aren't used to winning big games.

If the Big 12 is staying together, then what is Baylor's problem?

Why does Baylor have the problem? Why do people act like signing a waiver like this is normal? In the history of college football, no school has ever been asked to sign a waiver like this before because a conference mate is leaving.
quote:

i think Texas wants the conference to stay at 10 so it has an easier road to national titles, while other conference members want to expand to 12 members and be like a real conference. So there may be friction.....

This is spot on.....Texas AD wants to say at 10. Everyone else seems to want at least 12, if not more.
Mizzou hasn't signed anything yet:

quote:

When asked about the SEC, Deaton said that was another hypothetical and he wouldn’t elaborate further. Asked if the SEC was still in play, the administrator, who contacted The Star, said: “You will not look stupid by insinuating that.”
quote:

Que the Dr.

At least Texas is transparent about its emphasis on the LHN.

The Pac promised OU an offer and did a last minute 180........they sure look worse to me.

Lance Zierlein or whatever from a Houston radio station I think......
quote:

....under threat of breaking up the conference if Texas didnt get what it wanted how convenient of you to repeatedly fail to mention that little tidbit of information

That is nonsense.
quote:

They look greedy and like they don't give a shite about their conference mates

A&M, OU, Mizzou......everyone voted for the Big 12's rev sharing process and for schools to retain their 3rd tier rights (just like the SEC and ACC) which led to the LHN. Don't call Texas greedy because of how the other schools voted - that makes no sense.

quote:

They lose their biggest rival and admit to being afraid to schedule them OOC

A&M is the biggest rival of Texas? No
Texas is afraid of A&M? No

quote:

can't they just agree to not have high school games on their network, take like 2-3 mill less a year from ESPN (if high school games are even worth that much) and make everyone happy?

Is this a joke? LHN has never shown and will never show HS football or HS football highlights. Also, the conference is going to start sharing Tier 1 & Tier 2 TV rights equally and this means an annual cut to OU and Texas of 2 to 4 million dollars.

Elleshoe, you are the worst informed person on this board, and that is saying something.

quote:

All I know is that their home schedule next year looks pathetic.

Isn't the SEC trying to add someone on the Texas home schedule for next season?

quote:

Before that A&M won 10 out of 11 from Texas with the only loss being by 1 point and in Austin

cough.......major NCAA violations.......cheating........cough

quote:

For most of that time, A&M was a small, all military school, and there were no limits on scholarships.

I find it funny when A&M brings this up because it won its only title under these conditions.

quote:

Very interesting. One of the reasons why Mizzou, Colorado and Nebraska got pissed was because the offices were moved from Kansas City to the Dallas area

This was an 11-1 vote with Neb as the only dissent. Everyone else wanted as much exposure in Texas as possible for recruiting. Mizzou and Colorado weren't pissed, they voted for it!
quote:

As long as Texas is only out for itself it will never make it. Texas saying they are willing to share revenue for T.V. etc except for anything coming from the Longhorn network is a deal breaker in the long run for the rest of the schools. If Texas wants to be independent the Big 12 should just tell them to go be independent and good luck with that.

For the billionth time, every Big 12 member voted for schools to be able to retain their 3rd tier rights and to do with them as they please (just like the SEC & ACC)......A&M, OU, Mizzou.......they all voted for this rule which allowed for the creation of the LHN.

quote:

OU needs to go get Texas' ACC bid

ACC would say no for the same reason the Big 10 and the Pac 12 turned them down - academics.

quote:

However, they should not buy off conference teams and have conference games on the network - they should not be able to discuss or show HS games/ highlights on the network - that's the issue.

The LHN as not shown and will not show any HS football games or highlights. Regarding conference members on the LHN, they can't be put on LHN unless they agree to it. In fact, DeLoss Dodds said he would agree to never broadcasting conference members if that would get A&M to stay but the aggies still said no.
quote:

Legally speaking, maybe not since Baylor has yet to drop their suit against A&M.

Baylor never filed a lawsuit against anyone. They never even threatened to sue A&M. They refuse to sign a waiver saying that they won't sue Slive personally or the SEC. This is the first time in college football history that members of a conference have been asked to sign waivers like this.

Like everything else having to do with conference realignment, it is amazing how many people don't know the facts.
It will be interesting to see how long the honeymoon lasts. A&M knows the way things work in the SEC before they ever joined but soon they will be complaining about everything.

Everything A&M is upset about in the Big 12 are things that they voted for to occur. Unequal rev sharing, schools controlling their 3rd tier rights, everything......aggies want to hold someone else accountable for their massive failures. Soon, it will be the fault of every other SEC team that aggie has only won one national title in the 30s and hasn't had a top 5 finish in over a half century.

Bitch, bitch, bitch.......it is all they do.......
quote:

finally. guy was soft and the ultimate UT puppet.

#1 Beebe was OU's choice to be commissioner, Texas had wanted someone else
#2 It wasn't Beebe's job to put rules in place. All of the rev sharing and 3rd tier rights stuff which allowed the LHN were voted on and approved by all conf members including A&M and OU.

quote:

Good move short term, but just delaying the inevitable. UT is still going to have to make concessions.

Texas is fine with = rev sharing of Tier 1 & Tier 2 rights (which will cost both Texas and OU an estimated 2 to 4 million a year) but nothing having to do with LHN will change.

quote:

Oklahoma is kicking arse

In what way? The conf commissioner they chose is being fired and they are getting ready to lose millions in TV revenue.

quote:

And replaced by another tu hand picked puppet.

Texas had wanted the current Notre Dame AD to be the Big 12 commissioner. OU hand picked Beebe.

quote:

Hopefully his first order of business is to let Texas A&M go.

He can't force Baylor to sign the waiver.
quote:

I lurk at ShaggyBevo now and then and Dr.D is a poster there. He has said often he doesn't think losing the A&M game is a big deal and has even gone so far as to say that losing both A&M and OU from their schedule is a non issue.

The OU game obviously means a lot more but if Texas had gone to the Big 10 or ACC, and had lost the OU game because of it, I would have been fine with that.

I am going to show Ken Starr this post.

quote:

“Certainly the position of Oklahoma State and I think most of the schools, if not all, is that we want to add a 10th team,” said Oklahoma State president Burns Hargis, a member of the league’s expansion committee. He listed TCU, Houston, SMU, BYU, Utah and Air Force among the potential expansion targets before saying “we’ve talked about a lot of ideas.”
