To justify LSU hiring a, 10-25 record @ Ole Miss, Shrimp Boat Captain

It was easy to play up the "he's one of us", rather than accepting the fact that "Eaux" is garbage.

I think that's right. I see the same kind of justification going on now in regards to Kelly's abysmal record against highly ranked teams.

This is exactly the whole point. “Culture” is not a bonafide when it comes to coaching at a particular school.

Can you recruit?
Can you make great hires?
Can you manage a roster?
Can you manage a multimillion dollar business?
Can you identify areas of weakness and improve?

These are what make a great coach and these areas are where O was severely lacking (aside from initial recruitment of players).

Jimbo couldn't has a losing record vs Orgeron.

This can particularly diminish opportunities for minority coaching candidates, many of whom are searching for a fair shot at jobs.

This just in, coaching searches are racist. Is there a journalist alive that can't toss that into an article?

That is an excellent point. Good to know that outside of Alabama we will not be playing consistently highly ranked teams in tSEC West.

He made one last call to close friend and A&M coach Jimbo Fisher to gauge his interest before entering more serious discussions with Trace Armstrong, the agent for Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly.

Woodward knows that Fisher knows that Fisher's NC opportunity is greater at LSU.

That call was made before LSU beat A&M with LSU's 3rd string players. That's probably when Kelly knew it, too. Thankfully!

And yet, despite the fact that Jimbo has no buyout and can walk away from A&M whenever he wants, he told his friend Woody to kick rocks.

I don't especially but there have been about 500 posts on tRant saying that LSU never wanted or offered Jimbo. This is an article from a source with no skin in the game disputing that. Did he get a formal offer? Likely not because it sounds like Jimbo wasn't interested.

Can you develop players?
Can you build trust, inspire, transform, create winning beliefs and behaviors?
Can you align leadership, key stakeholders, players...to march in same direct?

...I think you missed a few important ones.

Life ain't Madden football plug n play. Just isn't.

Why would Fisher come to a program with expectations? He would actually be a dumbass to leave 8&4 for LSU. He was right about that, he just wasn’t forthright about why.

I heard they played with 5th and 6th stringers!!

The fact of the matter is that we had more talent not on the field than A&M. This is despite the claims A&M fans like to make about how they would have totally won a national championship this year if they had their inexperienced QB who threw for 3 picks against Kent State. We've refused to accept the actual results since 2019, so we made a change and will try to rebuild. Meanwhile A&M will continue to grasp for hypothetical outcomes (see 20XX trophy) and extend their coach after actual 5th place divisional finishes.

Title IX may just go down as the filter that enabled future LSU NCs

And ensured that A&M's NC distant WWII memory remains distant

Thank goodness it wasn’t Jimbo. Last Sat sealed the deal for me. O should have beat him last year too. He really has only had one good year.

I think he was certainly a candidate that they vetted, not sure how serious they ever got.

A major Fortune 500 company reached out to me this morning to gauge my interest in a position they have in my region, doesn't mean I'll be offered the job.

The fact remains that Jimbo would've been a very hard sell to Tiger fans.

LSU's Title IX debacle may go down in history as the filter of Fisher decision debacle...
