I'm not a Saban hater, but I can see factors that indicate he has had enough. I had the opportunity to see a few practices when he was here at LSU, the players have to be 100% on board with him, if they are not, he is very tough, he will break them apart verbally. When he went to Miami I knew he would not last in the NFL, those guys are professionals, they made as much money as he did, they would not put up with being belittled and yelled at, his method of coaching was not conducive to the NFL.

Now with NIL and the transfer portal CFB is almost the same as the NFL, a lot of the players are making big bucks, if they get pissed off they can transfer anywhere they want. This is not Saban's world any longer, this is why he got out of the NFL.

I think he is close to saying "screw it, I've had enough".

JUst speculating, but I can see he's frustrated though his statements.

I think he wants one more, I think he’s got another “QB cycle” in him, maybe 3 years. I think he will win one in that time and retire.

I know this will probably get lost in the comments but sometimes when I’m home alone I like to go out in my garden and cover myself with dirt and pretend I’m a carrot.

Then you woke up from your fever dream and reality set in.

Just had his best class ever. Has dominated the portal the last 2 years.

Cool. You saw A practice 20 years ago. He's totally the same coach.

He had a .500 record at a rotten franchise.

NFL scouts consistently say Alabama's program is the most NFL-like. Alabama players who go to the NFL say the practices are the same.

People have been saying/complaining he smiles too much lately and that "this isn't the old Saban" who was pissed off all the time and that he's enjoying it too much.

You just got DEBUNKED on every point you made and now the premise of your thread looks stupid.

Leadership is a lot more than yelling “I told you not to do…” and ripping and tearing. Sabin is a leader of men (as was Coach Bryant).

Saban has been dealing (sucessfully) for years with the most temperamental group, very top athletes. He has had success especially when he finds leadership within the team, defined not by bluster, but action.

He recognized changing social mores and was the first coach to introduce a player’s committee to take responsibility for policing the team moral and behavior. He will adapt his approach to the current situation. It wouldn’t be surprising if a great many proven players jumped at the chance of playing for him, something they can say the rest of their lives.

NIL money won’t buy a “team” or aTm would be beating people. You still have to have a program. Alabama has one and everyone knows it.

Bryant changed college coaching forever making others try to copy his approach ( and usually fail). Saban likewise changed the way the game must be coached. He is still the best at it.

I am not an LSU hater but I can see LSU fans have had enough with losing to UGA and Texas A&M when both were almost automatic wins before Kelly became LSU HC.

Saban will surprise us all. We thought he would be retired by now & enjoy life. I believe we all think he will win 1 more, but I'll take Saban on his word.

He is still in it as long as the team is going to be successful. I could easily seeing him winning one & staying longer if he feels like a good chance on repeating. If he wins 3 more, no surprise.

He is building that mountain high to be the greatest.

I don't understand where this is coming from. Because Alabama isn't dominating every opponent every week anymore? That cannot last. With NIL and transfer portal, it's going to be impossible to maintain that kind of standard. But Saban has adapted just fine to every change in college football.

I agree, Saban wants to win one more natty before he retires. Which is precisely why he will be coaching for a long, long time still. It's gonna be a long, long time before anybody knocks that big red Beast from the East off it's thrown.
