Prayers sent for all those who are heading to New Orleans.

quote:

President Donald Trump is expected to attend the College Football Playoff championship game between LSU and Clemson in New Orleans on Jan. 13, Sports Illustrated's Ross Dellenger confirmed.

The Advocate's Elizabeth Crisp was first to report the news.

The decision comes less than a week after Trump called LSU coach Ed Orgeron following the Tigers' victory over Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff semifinal.

"I was very honored to get a call from President Trump," Orgeron said on Tuesday of the call. "He was very pleasant to talk to. Very complimentary of our football team, our coaching staff. Complimentary of the way the state of Louisiana has rallied around us. Was complimentary of the way we played all year and wished us good luck in the game."

As Dellenger noted earlier this week, Trump, LSU and Louisiana have been interconnected in a variety of ways. He has already attended an LSU game this season, watching the Tigers upset Alabama in November from a midfield suite at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

During a radio appearance, Trump discussed LSU's Heisman Trophy–winning quarterback, Joe Burrow. Plus, Louisiana is a strong base for the president. He received 58% of the vote in the 2016 presidential election, obtaining more individual votes than any previous candidate on a Louisiana ballot.

Regardless of politics, the POTUS attending your game should be considered an honor. Could be worse. You could be an Iraqi soccer player playing in front of Udei Hussein.

Best get there 4 hours early and bring nothing to the game. When TSA took over at ATL natty game they literally went through wallets piece by piece.

You're welcome to feel that way. Personally, I wouldn't give a shite if I was a player. The office means nothing to me. As a fan it makes getting through security a bitch.

Yep and the only reason Trump keeps doing it is to stroke his own ego.

I know the game in Atlanta he prevented tens of thousands from getting inside the stadium before kickoff and he left the game before halftime.

What is this the 40th football game he’s attended as POTUS? If Obama did this he would be tarred and feathered on here

Might want to get in line the night before at this point, going to be a shite show. If you are dark complexioned and have a beard or have been to Halal guys recently, prepare for a cavity search.

I think it would be pretty badass to have the president come see my team play.

I do understand it would be a pain in the butt for fans tho.

Like I said, you're welcome to feel that way. I don't. The office itself doesn't mean anything to me.

He likes being cheered and he knows by attending sporting events in the south where his popularity is the highest, that'll happen.

He's now been to two Alabama games. This will be his second LSU game. Aside from Army/Navy, he's not going to games outside of the south because it would expose him to a non-friendly crowd (see attending the WS game in Washington where he promptly left after being booed).
