Props to Scott for staying with Nick so long. There is an expiration date on the intensity the man generates. Scott lasted much longer than most. That being said, Nick knows who is ready for different responsibilities. I trust Nick on this. Kirby is just trying to find an edge to put him over the hump. Good luck with that.

Seems pretty simple to me.

This about sums it up.

This makes Cochran look like a bitch.

Not a good look for Cochran. These sources made him look terrible.

You're a Willy fanboy at this point. This is a worse look than being a recycled, unoriginal troll.

He's never coached one down of on-the-field football

Beginning 1998:

Baton Rouge University Lab - Strength and conditioning
LSU - Strength and conditioning
Hornets - Strength and conditioning
Bama - Strength and conditioning

That's 22 years and now he's opined that he feels destined to become a head coach of a sport he's never coached on the field.

Saban was right to tell him it would be a good idea to start getting into coaching meetings. That hurt Cochran's feelings? LOL

I don't know what Kirby is doing here.

And did Cochran even play any sport in college? I'm truly getting tired of seeing guys who never played any sport in college wanting to coach college athletes. The failure rate for those guys is very high.

I'm surprised that this has gotten to 5 pages.

This is Kirbys 3rd special teams hire.

I'm pretty sure Cochran won't wreck the program. If he does well... raises and promotions. If not, kirby will be on his 4th special teams hire.

Imagine being this melty over “Yikes - horrible look.”

Clearly some pent up frustration being let out.

Never understand why you shite on someone that gave you an opportunity and paid you well for 14 years. I think it is a character flaw that would make me nervous about any future employment.

Kiffin went in a different direction and instead of it being that simple it is spun into "someone didn't want Cochran to go to Ole Miss."

I have it on good authority that Kiffin really doesn't like Saban. In fact, he wanted a head coaching gig in the SEC just so he could have the chance to beat Saban and rub his nose in it. Kiffin wasn't going to keep Cochran away from Ole Miss just because Saban asked him to. If anything, that'd be a reason for Kiffin to hire Cochran away from Alabama. He's a troll and he would love to piss Saban off.

No dipshit I’m not giving you a coaching position. Oh by the way, let me know which jobs you’re interested in and I’ll let you know which ones you’re allowed to pursue.

We can all agree Bama isn’t screwed and Georgia is going to be fine. There doesn’t have to be a defined winner/loser here.
This is where you are WRONG.

There has to be a winner and a loser here because we are discussing a freaking S&C Coach turned ST Coordinator from Alabama to Georgia. There have been no less than 8 threads dedicated to Scott Cochran and a full week later another pops up in tRant.

Never in my +10 yrs on this board have I ever seen so much attention paid to a S&C coach.

It's not my fault that Willy and his groupie followers stalk every thread I start.

This thread has nothing to do with LSU and yet here you two idiots are, continuing to tard it up.

The reasoning here is indisputable. Turned down by
Saban, turned down by Kiffin, then old buddy Smart
saves the day for his friend seeking glory beyond a
workout room.

I don't feel like SC shite on Alabama at all, I think he just needed more than S&C and Coach Saban wasn't willing to risk an on-the-field position on someone with zero experience or off campus recruiting.

Alabama made the S&C coach a rock star, a know man with his crazy over the top antics. I've never seen the exposure and publicity given to any other college S&C coach in my life.

Alabama paid him a handsome salary to run that program, and when he decided he wanted to work towards a HC job and wanted an on the field position, Saban advised him to at least get his feet wet and gain some knowledge by going to meetings and learning the STeams job.

Cochran felt/feels he has enough technical knowledge and his old friend Kirby gave him a shot. It was time to move on for Cochran and I understand that. Just like Bama is moving in another direction with S&C and they needed a strong replacement to run the new sports science facility with high tech guys that have a good head for knowledge in the sports science field.
