Sour Grapes Thread - This was the worst college football season I can remember

Absolutely nothing of value happened.
The biggest upsets were all meaningless, as two teams who had two of biggest upsets were in the championship game anyway.
The Heisman race was a complete afterthought, barely heard it mentioned or talked about.
Of the 16 teams in the SEC maybe 2-3 were actually pleased with their season.
The first year of the 12 team playoff proved every single hater right about the negative aspects of it.
The NIL/Portal churn grows ever more retarded year after year and the future for college sports looks pretty bleak.

It is 100% because the SEC had a rare letdown postseason. If the Championship Game had featured one or two SEC schools, this place would be going wild and it's all we'd be talking about today.
I do agree that the Portal needs a complete overhaul. There should be one transfer window per season, and it should be in the Spring. And once a player transfers through the Portal, that should be binding for a full season, like a national letter of intent.
It is completely insane that kids are entering the Portal before bowl games/postseason games have been played. It's also a massive distraction for teams and coaching staffs. Seems like an easy fix.

It's the confluence of a number of things. NIL and transfer portal means players are less attached to schools, so fans are less attached to players (and consequently their own teams). The expanded playoff really only serves to provide the biggest spenders in the sport with a couple mulligans during the regular season. People are realizing that the only kind of "cinderella story" you'll ever see in these playoffs is a team with top 5 talent who happened to drop a couple games and thus got seeded a little lower than others.

The playoff was entertaining for the most part even with all the blowouts. However the season needs to be two weeks shorter. The NFL will continue to dominate the headlines if it continues to compete with the NFL playoffs.

This is a great point and big for me. It’s hard for me to say “our guys” when they’ve played for 1 or 2 or sometimes 3 other teams.

This is the biggest downside to an expanded playoff by far.

It does destroy the narrative of “the regular season matters.”
9-3 teams making cases for being included was disgusting and it’ll keep happening.

Yes that really was sad and pathetic

And it will continue every year going forward, like I said the most depressing thing is all the negatives from this year appear to be a now permanent fixture of college football.

No team with 3+ losses in the regular season should ever make the playoffs.

Maybe we should value the 12 BEST teams. Nah, what a crazy idea.

I agree....the sport as we know it has just lost its luster. The Suckeyes were overrated and only in the game because they were able to shell out more money than anybody else in the Little 10 and STILL couldn't take down Michigan.
But with everything from the NIL, to the transfer portal, to players with agents and 'buyout clauses'....dang, its really slipped into the abyss. (sigh),.

So this is what old, grumpy men do all day....
Sit at home, alone, and post their grievances in a forum because they have no more friends to talk to.
