I don't disagree, and this should also apply to every other sport. If you've been paid professionally to play a sport, entered the draft, suited up for a professional team, tried out for a professional team, etc, you should no longer be able to play that sport collegiately. And that includes overseas basketball players. But if the NCAA ever wants to get anywhere, they have to be consistent, which they continuously struggle to do.

We can call a spade a spade and acknowledge that college athletes have been professionals ever since the courts said they could be paid and shift focus to age limits in college sports.

This is rich.. I'm not sure responding to every other fan base bitching about this to LSU is considered whining.. I would say Bama, and ole miss have done the most whining about all of this. Oddly missouri fans here are a distant 3rd.

not if they have collective bargaining and anti-trust protection. The NBA and NFL both have age restrictions in their own bylaws. And as an aside, age discrimination laws typically only protect people 40 years of age and older. Everything is going to have to ultimately be resolved at the federal level, unfortunately. There really is no way around that unless people are cool with leaving everything up to endless lawsuits around the country.

I didn't realize age discrimination was built in with other leagues, sounds like you're right then.

They have an age requirement, as in..in the NBA you have to be one year removed from high school and in the NFL, three years removed. They don't have an age limit. But, generally speaking, young people aren't in the class of people when it comes to age discrimination. The federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act, for instance, makes it unlawful to discriminate against someone 40 years of age or older.
However, athletes aren't employees as of now. The Courts have explicitly said that to date, so that wouldn't necessarily apply to a college athlete right now. The NCAA literally just imposed an age-based restriction with 5 for 5. The new bylaw states that you have 5 years to play 5 and your clocks starts either upon your enrollment or on your 19th birthday, whichever comes first. That, in effect, sets a cap of 24 years old for a college athlete, although they did carve out exceptions for military service, maternity leave, and religious missions. No one has sued over being able to play beyond 24...yet, so I guess we'll see with respect to that issue.
But, they can generally get around any and all employment restrictions with anti-trust protection and collective bargaining, which is where all of this appears to be going anyways.

I agree.
All the NCAA had to do was either wait until the end of this season to announce 5/5 or not include class of 2022 in the rule.
Going forward it's easy "If you do not remove your name from the NFL draft ahead of a deadline, you forfeit all college eligibility"

they didn't, which is why the 2022 athletes sued for injunctions. Most of the athletes who sued weren't pros trying to come back. There were a ton of female and non-revenue sport athletes who sued for eligibility

So , what time is the vote to expel texas ? They clearly recruited someone that is ineligible to play on their team. And I have not a single frick to give about the context of the situation..Im just so emotional and mad now

Texas is more of a valued customer and big deal than LSU is. Texas is fine.
